BETTY DIXON (nee BROADFOOT) June 23, 1953 - August 15, 2014 We are profoundly saddened to announce the passing of our dear sister, sister-in-law, cousin and aunt after a 20 month battle with cancer. Betty was one of those people who touched the lives of so many others, with her sense of humour, her caring, and her ability to motivate people to get good things done. Early on, she adopted the "Happy Face" as her personal mark, and it truly exemplified her attitude to life. Betty, you will be forever missed by all who knew you. Betty was born and raised in Winnipeg. She earned her LPN diploma and soon after moved to Port Coquitlam. Most of her professional career was spent as a Rehab Assistant at Eagle Ridge Hospital, where she was very active in organizing staff events and fund-raising activities. She is survived by her brother Ken, sister-in-law Wendy and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Bob and Mollie and her brothers Ron and Barry. We wish to thank Betty's co-workers who prepared meals for Betty throughout much of her illness. Words cannot express our deep gratitude to Betty's friends Lois, Rosemary and Terry who went to unbelievable lengths to support Betty in so many ways, in the absence of family in BC. At her request, cremation has taken place. Memorial get-togethers in both Port Coquitlam and Winnipeg are being planned. Donations may be made to the Humane Society or charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I am so sorry of the loss of Betty. She has been in my life for so many years it's hard to believe that she is no longer at the other end of email or the phone. We met when she nursed at the Victoria Hospital here in Winnipeg and I visited her often when I travelled to BC. I loved that girl!!! • It is sad to see my high school friends passing away, but learning of their happy, productive lives is a comfort. I extend my best wishes and condolences to Betty's family and loved ones. - Posted by: Dave Pratt (School friend) on: Aug 19, 2014

  • My deepest sympathies to the family upon the passing of Betty. Betty was one of my first childhood friends on Pawnee Bay along with Nancy Barr and Debbie Hartridge. Betty was the one who always was the glue, her smile was infectious, and a generally great playmate. Although she lived away, we are all remembering her today from our high school days. - Posted by: Laurie GydĂ© (childhood friend from Pawnee Bay) on: Aug 19, 2014
