• My family, the Carbones, have wonderful memories of compare Franco, his wife Teresina, mother-in-law Rosina, and their children Rose, Charlie, Evana and Mary. I'll never forget the house on Dorchester (not to mention Montrose) which seemed to be always teeming with people; rarely was there ever a dull moment. When we first came to Canada from Italy the Naccaratos were a point of reference, a reminder and affirmation of the customs, traditions and language that we left behind. We shared a common understanding of what it was like to adapt to the realities of a new country. Our social gatherings bristled with affection, vitality and enthusiasm. Often we would spend our summer holidays at Grand Beach with the Naccaratos, the Fiorinos, the Guercios, the Carvellis, the Richichis, the Molinaris, the Lorias, among others, savouring and enjoying life to the fullest. These and other happy experiences, too numerous to mention, have remained indelibly imprinted on my mind and have nourished my emotional well being. • I remember Frank as a kind and generous person. My family and I drove from East Kildonan to Frank's Solo store on Portage Avenue in Winnipeg for our groceries every week. We went there only because of the friendliness and service provided by Frank and his family. This was back in the 1970's and to this day I have not forgotten Frank's warm and welcoming personality.
