DONNA GIDYK (nee BEGGS) November 28, 1934 - August 14, 2014 With deep sorrow, we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother, sister and nana. She was predeceased by her husband Walter, parents Donald and Elizabeth Beggs, and sister-in-law Huguette Beggs. Left to cherish her memory, are her children Wendy (Glenn) Podolsky and Michael Gidyk, grandchildren Ashley (Marc), Kristen (Bryce) and Tyler Podolsky, brother Bob and companion Bill Baird. Donna was born in Orilla, ON and raised in Swift Current, SK where she met Walt, her husband of 54 years. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1958. Donna happily raised her children at home and then spent time working at Eaton's Catalogue, Ronald Shoes and Pierre Radison Collegiate. During retirement, Donna and Walt spent 15 wonderful winters in Mesa, AZ and also enjoyed 20 fun filled years at their summer cottage in Star Lake with family and friends. Donna will always be remembered for her warm hospitality, cooking and good company. One of Donna's greatest pleasures was participating in the lives of her grandchildren, sporting activities, sleepovers, birthdays, graduations and of course, shopping. Recently, she had the pleasure of celebrating two of her grandchildren's weddings. Mom was an avid knitter and her pieces will always be cherished by her family. She also enjoyed watching golf and cheering for the Roughriders. After losing Walter, Donna moved to Sylvan Lake, AB where she resided until her untimely passing. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian National Institute of the Blind. Mom, Nana you are forever in our hearts until we meet again.
