Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEPHANIE SHEWELL (nee KUDELSKI) January 8, 1923 - August 18, 2014 It is with sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother Stephanie. Predeceased by her parents Nicholas and Maria Kudelski, husband John, son Wayne, cherished grandsons Dustin and Jason, brothers John, Mike, Peter and Paul. Mother is survived by her children James (Gladys), Geraldine (Ron), Jacqueline (Derek), grandchildren Debra (Henry), John, Sean (Chrissy), Roxy and Daniel, and great-grandchildren Jade, Jordan and Jack, also sisters Anne, Lucy, Jean, Joyce, and brother William. Mother was born into a large Ukrainian family in Manitoba, she left the farm at the age of 18 for Winnipeg. Soon after she and girlfriend Nellie Lubinski boarded the train east to Toronto seeking adventure and employment opportunities, she found both. Mom also found a handsome soldier in uniform while roller skating at the Mutual Arena on Gould Street. She and Dad were married soon after. Mom was an excellent wife and business partner to Dad. Through self education, determination and an incredible work ethic Mom became and will remain an inspiration to her family. Mother excelled as a homemaker and cook, she could as easily prepare a meal for 25 guests as for two. She possessed a natural sense of style and fashion with a flair for interior decorating. She took great pride in the presentation of her home and gardens. Her canning skills were legendary, every summer the produce from her carefully tended gardens yielded jar after jar of delicious preserves. No one ever left her home without a gift of her labours. She will be greatly missed. We extend special thanks to the entire 3rd floor staff of the Newmarket Regional Long Term Care Home and Dr. Geoffroy, their efforts truly did make her stay there feel like home. In accordance with Mom's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service, urn interment and luncheon reception at Holy Cross Cemetery in Thornhill will follow at a later date. We, her children, ask that in her memory you extend a kind word or a hug to a family member as she always did. Have a good rest Mom, you have earned it.
