Memories of "Dad" will be forever cherished by his daughter, Leigh-Anne and her husband, Allan; his son, Robert and his wife, Cathy, and Bob's beloved grandchildren, Michael and Kayla; and, his son, Manning. Bob was a born Winnipegger growing up on Edmonton Street with his parents, Tannis and Leonard, and his brother, Manning (Babe), and maternal grandmother, Mary Ellen Coyne Manning (Mamo) and spending their summers at the family cottage on Lake of the Woods. Bob and Babe were always together playing sports during their school years at Alexander, Mulvey and Gordon Bell. Hello, I am researching my Hobday family and came across the obituary for Cecil Robert Hobday in the Winnipeg Freepress which was of interest to me because his father was my grandfathers first cousin. I would like to make contact with Cecil Robert Manning's relatives in Canada (or elsewhere) and would be happy to tell them what I know about the family in the UK. If anyone is interested my e-mail address is tmonk08@btinternet.com and if you need any further information please let me know. My mother was Barbara Hobday who was the daughter of Percival Valentine Hobday and he was the son of Valentine John Hobday. Many thanks Trevor Monk - Posted by: Trevor Monk (Distant Relative) on: Jul 21, 2016

Mum and dad first met Bob and Olwen when they visited John and Grace Little. Mum had known John Little when he was stationed in England during the war. Mum and dad had flown the Atlantic to spend Christmas with John and Grace. They were introduced to Bob and Olwen and became good friends. One summer Bob and Olwen took mum and dad to Kenora to their cottage by the lake. Mum still remembers the happy time she spent there. Bob and Olwen visited England. Mum and dad brought them to my house in Yateley. It was spring time and Bob loved the 'candles' on the horse chestnut trees. Over the years the Sears and Hobday families kept in touch by letters and phone calls. Bob always asking mum if she has visited Yateley lately? Mum will miss talking to Bob on the phone. He was a very kind man. - Posted by: Isabel Sears and daughter Deborah (friend) on: Sep 28, 2014

Bob and Olwen's visits to southern Ontario over the years to visit relatives, including my grandmother, are fondly remembered. They opened up an ongoing contact across the extended family and its generations which has since continued. I value and will certainly miss Bob's Wrye sense of humor, his stories of his family and times at the cottage in northwestern Ontario, his reports of Winnipeg's weather during our phone conversations, and his enjoyment of life in general. - Posted by: Jay Nuttall (Extended family) on: Sep 06, 2014
