Condolences & Memories (22 entries)

  • Doug, Irene, Helen & your families; I have just heard about your loss. Waves of memories of a fun loving, vibrant, very good friend from Gordon Bell days. I pulled out old yearbooks I haven't looked at for a long time & felt sad about connections lost over the years, but treasuring the memories of all the fun we had. I would like to take credit that Eva & Doug met through our connection. Reading the tributes I can see that she continued with her enthusiasm for life that I will always remember. I am so sorry she is gone so soon. My heart & prayers are with you. - Posted by: Bev Coates ( Barbour) (High school friend) on: Feb 27, 2015

  • I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Eva. I knew Eva and her sisters Helen and Irene while growing up on Arlington St. There were so many good times at their home and I was treated like a brother by the Tegos family. My deepest sympathy to Eva's family and friends. Rick Montsion - Posted by: Rick Montsion (friend) on: Sep 18, 2014

  • I knew Eva from her subbing days at Van Walleghem. She was always friendly, and happy. Her enthusiasm for teaching and her love of her students was very obvious. I really enjoyed chatting with Eva when she came to our school. Whenever I had to be absent, I requested Eva to be my sub because I knew the students would love her and that she would do a great job! So sad that Eva has left us so soon. SINCERE SYMPATHIES to her family and friends. Carole Regnier - Posted by: Carole Regnier (teaching colleague) on: Sep 11, 2014

  • I first met Eva, or Mrs. Mason when I was in the 7th grade at Westdale. She was a regular sub throughout junior high and high school at Oak Park. She was by far my favourite sub. I then had the pleasure of working with her for the last 8 years at Oak Park, where she was a member of the raider family and was adored by both staff and students. Eva was a kind, caring and warm person. I am grateful for the many talks we had over the years in the classroom or the staff room, always with family at the center of the conversation. She was always there to listen and offer advice when needed, and I appreciate the many things she taught me about life. Most importantly, that family is everything. My condolences to her family and fellow friends. She was an incredible woman with a heart of gold and will be loved and missed dearly. - Posted by: Michelle Sparrow (Friend) on: Sep 10, 2014

  • My last semester at oak park it seemed like I ran into mrs mason at every corner and I between almost every class, no matter how many times a day we ran into each other she never seized to say hello or ask me how i was or how my graduated sisters were. I can't imagine subbing high school students and I know for a fact that it was not an easy job, but nothing beat the feeling of walking into class and seeing mrs. Mason at the teachers desk with a huge welcoming smile on her face. I feel so lucky to have gotten the chance to be taught by her the odd class here and there. Condolences and prayers to her family and friends. Rest in peace mrs mason you will be missed - Posted by: Jennifer Fortier (Student) on: Sep 10, 2014

  • Like a breath of fresh air, Eva would come in early to get organized for her day of subbing! Always smiling and sharing stories and pictures, she brightened my mornings! I remember thinking I wished I could sit through one of her classes! I was so so sad to hear of Eva's passing, such a senseless senseless accident. I'm grateful our pathes crossed... Grateful to be the recipient of her joy and tender heart... My deepest sympathies to her family who meant the world to her.... - Posted by: Kathleen Demers (Former Van Wellegham secretary where Eva so often subbed... ) on: Sep 09, 2014

  • Dear Doug, Stephen and Kristina, our entire family is sending our love and deep condolences to you. We have so many happy memories of our years as neighbors, on Huddersfield Place, and Eva was so welcoming, helpful and kind to us when we moved there. She hosted my baby shower when our Kristen Was born, and your house was our Ricky's second home. She truly enriched our lives and we are so thankful to have known her. I am grateful that we were Able to reconnect again in Vancouver, and share old stories and laugh as two connected Moms. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers, Rick, Judy, Ricky, Ryan and Kristen - Posted by: Rick and Judy Bowness (Friend) on: Sep 09, 2014

  • I am lucky to have had Kristina as a very dear friend for over 30 years and was blessed to know her incredible Mom. Eva was always there to chat with us, and keep us in line, whenever we needed. She was an amazing Mom, wife, friend, and teacher and has left a tremendous legacy behind that will be carried on by her wonderful husband and kids. It is heartbreaking to have lost her so suddenly and my deepest condolences go out to her family and many friends. The world is a better place because she was in it. You will be forever missed. • I can't be live she is gone. I just saw we about a month ago. I had her in my foods class at oak park while our regular teacher was away for a few months. And she made the class so fun! She ALWAYS had a smile on her face, loved making jokes. When I tried coming back to school after I got pregnant she always stopped me in the hall and asked how the baby and I were. Iv only had 3 favorite teachers in my whole 20 years on this earth and she mrs. Mason was one of them. My condolences go to the family. Xoxo - Posted by: Shy scott (Student ) on: Sep 07, 2014

  • My condolences to the Mason family. I remember her well from her years as a substitute teacher for many of my classes during grade school. She stands out as one the friendliest sub teachers I remember and she seemed to always find a way to talk to me and many other students individually. In the handful of her classes I was in each year, she made an impact with how much she always seemed to care about each student, even if she only saw you once a month. Thanks for all the years you spent being a great teacher to so many! - Posted by: Justin Gauthier (Student ) on: Sep 07, 2014

  • She was always the kindest and sweetest substitute teacher. She was the only person that was happier to be there than the students she was teaching. The world lost a wonderful woman this week - Posted by: Chris Moskal (Student) on: Sep 07, 2014

  • Mrs. Mason made me a better person in a way. She would always brighten my day every time we saw each other, with a good morning, or talking about sports. You will be sadly missed - Posted by: Christian Kingsland (One of her many students) on: Sep 06, 2014

  • Mrs. Mason was such a joy to be around, she leaves behind endless memories for many of her students. One of my favourite things was the fact she actually took the time to remember students names and personal details. Every time I would pass her in the hallways of Oak Park she would always find a few extra minutes to ask me how things are going and we grew to know each other on a personal level. All the students I know could agree with me when I say we all had a sense of relief and joy knowing our substitute teacher that day was going to be Mrs.Mason. She set a high standard for passion and friendliness. Mrs.Mason is a school legend and will be missed deeply by many! - Posted by: Anndrea Kellestine (Student) on: Sep 06, 2014
