Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNST S. DOORNINK March 12, 1950 - September 5, 2014 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Ernie at the age of 64. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Irma, their two children: Jason (Kristen) and Jennifer (Alexandre) and four grandchildren: Kamryn and Peyton, Ethan and baby Niko who Ernie never got to meet. Ernie was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1959. For the last 13 years, Ernie worked for The Quarks Group, most recently managing the Kildonan Place store. Ernie was a Christian and firm in his faith. He and Irma were members of St. John's Presbyterian Church for nearly 45 years. He was at peace with where he was going, and was ready to go. Ernie would always say, "wherever you go, there you are", and we are sure he is happy where he is. As we mourn, we also celebrate the life that Ernie shared with the people he loved. His favorite place to spend time was St. Malo camping with family and best friends Larry and Susan. According to Ernie's wishes cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of Ernie's life. Place and time to be announced at a later date. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son so that whoever believes in him may not die but have eternal life."

I was passing through Winnipeg on my way back to BC and hoped to locate my friend Ernie so am saddened to read he is no longer with us. We were friends in out early teens and I used to spend the occasional Sunday visiting him and his parents. Lovely family. Fond memories of a very nice man and family. - Posted by: Haike (Harry)Kingma (Friend ) on: Jun 29, 2024

I recall Ernie when he worked in the Men's Shoes department at Eaton's in Winnipeg, Portage and Donald. It was 1975 and onward. He fitted me for many pairs of shoes, and, was always on the lookout for my size. I am a Size 13, so, there were often only one pair in a shipment of a particular style. He introduced me to the merits of a quality shoe. I am sad to hear of his death. Fond memories of an outstanding man. Sincerely, Greg Scheske - Posted by: Greg Scheske (Friend) on: Jan 01, 2020

Duncan met Ernie when they both worked for the Brown Shoes Co of Canada. They quickly became friends and after a short while introduced each others' families. The two families spent many X-mases and many other joyful gatherings together. Ernie will be missed, as we also miss the family since we moved back to Montreal. I got to know Ernie when I became a fellow shoe rep traveling the same territory as him. As a Clark rep, I got to know Ernie a little more when he started working with Quarks. He was always the true professional and a likeable person. I will always remember his laugh. Hope they still need shoes in heaven buddy. - Posted by: Bob Law (Fellow Shoe Rep) on: Sep 14, 2014
