HARBANS KAUR DHALIWAL It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on September 16, 2014. Harbans Kaur was born on December 10, 1929 in Nowshera, British India. In 1947, after the partition of British India into India and Pakistan, Harbans Kaur settled with her family in Sangatpura, Punjab, India. In 1954, she married her late husband Balbir Singh Dhaliwal in Samadh Bhai, Punjab, India and went on to become the mother of seven beloved children. In 1980, Harbans Kaur along with the rest of her family immigrated to Canada where she settled with her family in Winnipeg. Harbans Kaur worked for 14 years in a metal recycling factory, working long hours to help provide for her family, she retired in 1995. As her children grew older and began families of their own, Harbans Kaur became a grandmother and also a great-grandmother. She closely followed the religion of Sikhism and was able to ensure that these same values and traditions were passed down from generation to generation. Her family was her pride and joy and she made certain that all of our milestones, whether big or small, were celebrated to the fullest extent. Harbans Kaur was able to live a long life and will forever hold a special place in all of our hearts. A funeral service will take place this weekend on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone that has provided us with support and comfort throughout this time.
