Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN ELAINE KEHLER (nee FRIESEN) 1945 2014 On September 20, 2014 at Boundary Trails Health Centre, Helen Elaine Kehler (nee Friesen), aged 68 years of Winkler, MB formerly of Altona went home to be with Jesus and received her healing in heaven after a courageous nine month battle with cancer. Helen will be deeply missed by her husband of 48 years, Ernie and sons, Kevin (Keri), Ken, Leala (Marlon) as well as six grandchildren, Jessica, Ryan, Cole, Brookelyn, Nolan and Keira. She will also be sadly missed by her siblings Larry (Margo), Verna (Don), Marlene (Wayne) and Karen. Also brothers-in-law, Harv (Donna), Glen (Sheila), Rob (Sherry) and sister-in-law, Ruth (Sig) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents. Helen was born on October 14, 1945 to Ben T. and Susie Friesen in Altona, MB. She grew up in the Thames District, where she attended school and the Bergfeld church. During the summer of 1965 she met the love of her life, Ernie Kehler and they were married on September 10, 1966. During the first years of marriage they lived by Gretna on the farm. In 1968, their first son, Kevin was born. The same year, Mom and Dad moved to Roseville District and Ken was born the following year. Helen was baptized upon the confession of her faith in 1974 in Bergfeld Church at the age of 29. In 1980, they welcomed their daughter, Leala. They moved to Winkler in 1990 which would be home for the next 24 years until the time of her passing. The family would like to thank Dr. Menzies, Dr. Woelk and Dr. Lane as well as the wonderful nursing staff at Boundary Trails Health Centre and Wiebe Funeral Home. We are also so grateful to the many family and friends who have shown their support and given us comfort through prayers, visits, calls, and food. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church, 120 Pineview Dr. with a private family interment prior at Westridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's memory to either The Dominican Project (GVE) or to the Boundary Trails Health Centre Palliative Care Unit, both available at the church. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Ernie, one daughter, Leala and Marlon Kuhl (Brookelyn, Nolan, Keira), two sons, Kevin and Keri Kehler (Jessica, Ryan, Cole), Ken Kehler as well as three sisters and one brother.
