DOUGLAS GERALD HOPKINS For all that knew Doug, he was kind, free spirited and deadly on a pool table. He was a firefighter, veteran, piper, grandfather, father, brother, uncle and friend. Please join us to celebrate his life at the Toad (112 Osborne) this Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please enjoy a pint in his honour. A service will be planned for late spring.

  • Doug had some great stories, terrible jokes but he was always the first one on the patio for Happy Hour saving us a seat. It won't be the same without you my friend. Today we will raise a glass in your honour and this year I will save you a seat when the patio opens :) RIP my friend, you will be missed. • Doug and my brother, Brent, were two peas in a pod. They lived together with their moms in Victoria during WWII and forged a lifelong friendship. They were independent souls who lived a different life from many. Not great with relationships, but always great friends to so many. Both lived hard and went a bit too early. God bless you, Doug. You and Brent made life interesting. - Posted by: Blair and Ginny Tullis (Blair's cousin) on: Feb 18, 2015

  • So sorry for your loss Jamie, Kerri and families. I met Doug at Lot 623 and enjoyed spectating a few rousing games of backgammon between him and his unfortunate opponents - they all lost. Raising a glass to Grandhopper tonight. xo - Posted by: Lauren MacDiarmid (Friend of Jamie and Kerri) on: Feb 18, 2015

  • We only knew Doug for a short time...too short. Instantly we knew he was a character and a half. Always laughing, willing to share his great life adventures and always had a good joke. Our deepest sympathies go out to Kerri, Si and the rest of his family. We hope to make it to the Toad and raise a glass or two of something to his honour. - Posted by: Bev and Brent (Friends) on: Feb 18, 2015
