KATHLEEN MACKAY It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear sister, partner, auntie, cousin and friend, Kathleen MacKay, on February 26, 2015. Kathleen was born on January 16, 1960 in Winnipeg where she was raised. She received her education at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, and at St. Mary's Academy. Kathleen was in the information technology field throughout her career, and was involved in many important initiatives during her twenty-five year tenure at the Canadian Wheat Board. More recently, she was active in volunteering locally; both for animal rescue organizations, and for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. She is survived by her partner Kerry (Max) Drummond, her sister Dawne MacKay-Chiddenton (Mark), her brother Edmond MacKay (Leanne), her nephews Eryn MacKay-Chiddenton, and Paul MacKay, her niece Bonnie Dreveski, as well as her beloved aunties and cousins. Kathleen was preceded in death by both of her parents, Cora and Hugh MacKay of Winnipeg. Kathleen was a tender hearted, kind, and generous soul. She was always ready to help someone in need, or distress. In spite of her recent health difficulties, she was there for everyone she loved and treasured. Kathleen truly loved animals; they inspired her. One of Kathleen's passions was cooking, and she prepared many fabulous meals for us all. Her passion and gratitude for life was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed. A celebration of Kathleen's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 5 at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Father Gerry Ward, Kathleen's mentor and very dear friend will officiate. The family would like to thank the medical staff of the St. Boniface Hospital Asper Centre, and Heart Failure Clinic, for their ongoing care and concern for Kathleen. We would also like to express great appreciation to all of her personal caregivers. Contributions in Kathleen's memory may be made to Manitoba Mutts, the Winnipeg Humane Society, The Breast Cancer Foundation, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of MB. Kathleen will forever and always be in our hearts.

  • I think of you often Kathleen. I didn't know you for very long but I often remember our camping trip..full of so many giggles and good times!!! I remember the times you were in kitchen cooking up a storm, making your place smell so yummy. The sweets you were making were incredible. I remember a sweet, kind, caring woman who had so much love to give. I miss you but know you are in good hands with God now. Peace and love be with you my girl. xxoo - Posted by: Tammy Fyvie (friend) on: Dec 06, 2015

  • It is with heartfilled sadness that I say good-bye for now to a friend of many years. With the internet we re-connected and talked of many days that have passed and all the water that has gone under the bridge. You sure surprised me with this. I thank-you Kathleen for our conversation and those times will be remembered as we did. You were certainly a caring kind-hearted friend and will miss your smile that you shared with others. Rest in peace, Jim - Posted by: Jim Lambert (friend) on: Mar 05, 2015

  • That twinkle that keeps getting brought up here was always there and also that smile. I will always remember that. When I think of dolphins, I think of your love for them. And of course a good glass of wine always went a long way. May you find the peace you deserve. I can't be there today but my heart will be. - Posted by: Elaine Edgar (former coworker) on: Mar 05, 2015
