Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERONICA (VERONA) MAGDALINE SMITH (nee FOCHT) December 3, 1930 - March 5, 2015 It is with sadness we announce that on Thursday morning, March 5, 2015 at the age of 84 years, Verona passed away peacefully with her loved ones by her side. With her passing, this world has lost a gracious woman, a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a wonderful grandmother and great grandmother. Verona will be greatly missed by her children, Owen Smith (Barb), Candace Dziver (Dennis), Barry Smith (Kelly Wach), Wendy Salo (Murray), Jeff Smith (Karen Leitner), fifteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, stepchildren, Victor Smith of Duncan, BC, and Sandra Chatain (Frank) of Sundre, Alberta; brother Vern Focht of Winnipeg, MB, and sister, Marlene Renne of kenora, Ontario; as well as sisterin-law, Gwen Holinaty (Frank) of North Vancouver, BC. Verona was predeceased by her loving husband, Thomas Smith of 64 years in 2014; mother, Anna S. Wrigley (nee Focht) in 1991; father, John E. Focht in 1968, and sister, Ann Ratti (nee Focht) in 2002 Our Mom's wish was that we remember the happy times we've had with her, like the poem Afterglow I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when day is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways of happy times, and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun. Of happy memories I leave Behind when the day is done In accordance with Mom's wishes, no formal service is planned. A private gathering will take place with immediate family. In lieu of flowers donations in Verona's name may be made to The Manitoba Lung Association or The Heart and Stoke Foundation of Manitoba. Please accept my sincerest condolences on the loss of your Mom. She was a gentle woman, who always had a smile for everyone. My Mom was very sad to hear about her as well. I'm sure she is now at peace and that your Dad and her are on their way to Smitty's for coffee. Take care of yourselves. Donna (Prystenski) Larner - Posted by: Donna Larner (friend) on: Mar 14, 2015
