G. GLENN STANLEY February 4, 1945 - May 19, 2015 Sadly we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Glenn leaves his mother, Irene; sister, Susan; brothers, Rick (Sharon) and Gary; nieces, Erin and Ainsley; aunts and many cousins and friends. After retiring from a career in architectural specification writing Glenn enjoyed interests in cars, loved to tinker with mechanical things and spent many hours helping friends. Glenn's conversations will be missed by many. A Mass will be held at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 255 Stafford St. on May 27, 2015 at 11:00 am. A private family interment will be planned. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to remember Glenn are encouraged to support a charity of their choice. "You will be missed, Glenn, but never forgotten."

  • Hi Susan - You were one of the first people that offered me friendship in 1971 when I moved to Winnipeg from Saskatchewan. In recent years I recognized Glenn several times and I spoke to him with fond memories of how nice you were to me. I think he was proud that you extended your friendship and we had several good chats about life in general. I will always remember the kindness you bestowed upon me when I was well out of my element. I think your mom did a very good job of raising good children. My thoughts are with you and I will always think of your brother with fondness. He really was quite proud of you I think! • I remember Glenn as a very bright guy who always had the correct answer when the teacher's finger pointed his way or his name was called. Not one for idle chatter like some of us, when he spoke he did so intelligently and articulately and was worth paying attention to. My sincere condolences to his Mom, siblings and extended family. - Posted by: Gord Richardson (Classmate at Grant Park High) on: May 24, 2015

  • Ed and I send our condolences to you all, Susan, Gary, Rick, and Irene. When I think of Glenn, I remember the Jaguar - pretty fancy car in those days and Glenn's pride and joy. Our thoughts are with you all during these difficult days. - Posted by: Maureen Johnson () on: May 23, 2015

  • I knew Glenn for over 25 years, Glenn was kind and gentle soul. He loved cars and tinkering with things. I particularly enjoyed talking about cars, his TR7 and Oldsmobile. Working on cars, car designs. He recently had been at the car show at Assiniboine Downs, and told me about a hardtop roof from a 1967 Renault that he wanted to purchase for the TR7,we discussed whether or not we could make the roof fit, he was confident that he could make it fit. I am sure he would have been successful. I particularly enjoyed his stories of working on motorcycles and go karts. Again, he was kind person, I had only recently found out about his illness. I offered to take him to his appointment and was to take him to his Saturday appointment. Unfortunately, Glenn didn't answer his door. I regret that I was unable to help him. I will always remember him for his kindness, and the nice and a gentle soul. Peace be with Glenn. My deepest condolences to his family for their loss. - Posted by: Gordon Dickson (friend ) on: May 23, 2015

  • Mike and I send our sympathy to Aunty Irene and the Stanleys. We remember Glenn gratefully for his photography at our wedding. Aunty Irene hosted a wonderful Christmas -- the first one after my Mom Jean passed away -- and after a great buffet of homemade food Glenn provided a funny dry and self-deprecating running commentary on the Stanley home movies. A very smart and funny man. My Mom used to tell us that he was the sweetest and most beautiful baby. Love and prayers for you all. - Posted by: Jan Maydan (cousin) on: May 23, 2015
