GEORGETTE MARIA SCHOOFS (nee CATRYSSE) September 17, 1940 - May 22, 2015 Peacefully, Mom passed away at the Grace Hospital on May 22, 2015. Left to remember her and celebrate her life are her three children, Mike (Chantelle), Sandra (Derric), Allison (Ernie); her former spouse Bill Schoofs; and her five beloved grandchildren - Carrie, Courtney, Grayson, Aaron and Maelle. Mom will also be remembered by her sisters, Agnes (Marcel), Yvonne (Conrad); and brother Noel (Darlene), her many nieces and nephews, her aunt and uncle and cousins. Born to Richard and Julia Catrysse in Staden, Belgium, Mom came to Canada at the age of 11 with her family in 1951. Mom worked hard on the dairy farm at Stonewall helping her mom and dad, and always took care of her younger siblings. When Mom left the farm she moved to Winnipeg and resided there in her home of 49 years until her passing. Mom was industrious, a talented and creative sewer, and an avid gardener. Mom was a very friendly person and could often been seen pausing in her garden to chat with a neighbour or in Safeway chatting with the staff. In her later years, when she couldn't do as much, her joy was in her grandkids, whom she loved very much. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society. A memorial luncheon will be held in honour of Georgette's life at The Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day Street, Winnipeg from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31.

So sorry for your loss. For over 4 decades I remember chatting with her as a kid myself and raising my kids in the same house where I grew up, that was a staple of their childhood too. Our thoughts are with you. The Smith Family - Posted by: Heather Turnbull-Smith (Former neighbour) on: May 30, 2015

Dear Michael, Sandra, and Allison. Our heartfelt condolences on the loss of your mom. I will always have the fondest memories of her beautiful gifts to me as a child. One Christmas in particular, she had made me a complete Barbie wardrobe with an outfit for every occasion it seemed! Each outfit was intricately detailed and expertly crafted by hand by your mother! No ready-to-wear, off-the-rack for my Barbie. No, my Barbie would have couture custom tailored just for her by your mom! I will always remember that gift and the amazing talent and thoughtfulness that went into it. Rest in peace, Tante Georgette. - Posted by: Laurie Vosters (Goldchild and niece) on: May 30, 2015

Dear Michael, Sandra, Allison, and family. My heartfelt condolences to you all on the loss of your mother. I wanted to let you know that I will always have the fondest memories of your mother's gifts to me when I was a child. One Christmas in particular, your mom had sewn me a complete Barbie wardrobe! I don't know how many outfits there were, but each one was perfectly detailed and expertly crafted by hand representing what I now realize would have been hours of painstaking work. No ready-to-wear, off-the-rack for my Barbie. A couture wardrobe had been custom tailored just for my Barbie by your Mom! Over the years, I've come to realize how incredibly talented and thoughtful she was to have made me such an amazing gift and I'll cherish that memory forever. Rest in peace, Tante Georgette. - Posted by: Laurie Vosters (Godchild and niece) on: May 30, 2015
