VALGERDUR (VALA) GISLASON October 5, 1936 January 19, 2015 Vala's family sadly announces her passing on January 19, 2015 after a lengthy and debilitating battle with Parkinson's disease. She was predeceased by her father, Oskar and mother Paulina, of Bow Island, Alberta. She is survived by numerous cousins, who were her family after the deaths of her parents. Vala worked as a Lab Technician in Pembrook, B.C. until her affliction with Parkinson's made it impossible to continue. Vala was an accomplished artist who graduated with a diploma in Fine Arts from M.I.T. She enjoyed travel and journeyed to Iceland and Europe a number of times. She maintained close ties with her cousin Dora (Jon) Kristjansson who travelled from Iceland and visited with her in recent years. Vala will be buried next to her parents in Bow Island, Alberta. There will be a graveside service. The family wishes to thank Vala's friends who corresponded with her over the years.
