CAPTAIN ALLISTER B. MORDEN (RETIRED) November 17, 1921 - May 27, 2015 With heavy hearts, but with loving memories, the family announces the passing of Allister Morden, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather. He was born in Morden, MB, son of John and Bertha Morden. He received his education in Morden, graduating from Morden Collegiate. In 1941 he joined the Royal Canadian Airforce and trained as a navigator. He was sent overseas in 1942. His plane was shot down over France on June 14, 1944, where the French underground hid him for 6 months until he could return to England. After the war he attended university but rejoined the airforce as a F.O. in Flying Control. While stationed in Winnipeg, he met and married Dorothy Leonhard in 1952. The next posting was Zweibrucken, Germany, where their children Pamela and Grant were born. After many enjoyable postings Allister requested early retirement and took a job in the Post Office in Morden until 1985, when he retired. Allister was a member of the St. Thomas Anglican Church and a lay reader for many years. He was a Canadian Legion member for over 60 years participated in Little Theatre, and served on the Museum and Concert Series Committees. His hobbies were growing flowers (roses) music, playing his saxophone and reading. His family was most important to him. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Alister was predeceased by his loving wife Dorothy. He leaves to mourn his passing, daughter Pamela Zenk (Rod), their children Derek Harvey Zenk (Karleigh) great grandchildren Ryan and Mac, and Jordan Zenk, his son Grant (Bev), their children Ashley Wood (Ben) and Tyler Morden. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the St. Thomas Anglican Church Monday, June 1, 2015 at 11:00 am. (Family) Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery Morden.. In lieu of flowers, if friends wish, a donation may be made to the Tabor Home Fund. Allister's family is extremely appreciative for the exceptional care he received during the last few years at the Tabor Home. His last days were comfortable due to the professionalism and dedication of the staff. They treated Allister with respect and dignity and it was a great comfort for his family to receive such tremendous support during this difficult time. We thank you.
