ROBERT EDMUND MCALLISTER February 12, 1929 - May 15, 2015 It is with great sadness we say farewell to our adored Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa. Predeceased by Mavis, his wife and partner of 60 years, reunited. Survived by daughter Lynda - Tom, grandsons: Robert - Stacey, Cam, great-grandsons, Harrison and Langston. Son Bill, daughter Wendy - Mike, granddaughters: Beth and Julia. Athlete, hockey player, sportsman, fishing guide of Lake of the Woods, entrepreneur, home renovator, civic volunteer, voracious reader and lifetime learner. Proud of his Irish Heritage. A kind gentleman with strong quiet influence wherever he lived. So loved by his family and friends from the many chapters of his life. He will be missed. Trust was everything to Robert. His handshake alone, set a lifelong commitment. Of special importance to Dad were his many associations; Delta Upsilon Fraternity, Founding Member of the Winnipeg Masonic Lodge, Fraternal Order of Elks Winnipeg Lodge, Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce, Winnipeg Monarchs, Toronto Maple Leafs (invited for tryout), Winnipeg Squash and Racquet Club. With gratitude to his Carrington House "family" who added so much to his recent years. May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields and, until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand. By request, no service or donations.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Uncle Rob was/and is still a TRUE inspiration to myself and so many others! His kind quiet personality was loved by all. His dry sense of humour was typical of his Heritage and as a kid I had to work it out sometimes to figure out why the Adults were all laughing and none of the younger kids were. He and Dearest Aunt Mavis were loved by myself and all in our Family. Son Chad and Daughter Tiffany met and loved them Dearly. Linda, Bill and Wendy and all your Families know how much he was loved and how He influenced so many in such a Positive way. His legacy is certainly in you all whom are also all so special! May He and Aunt Mavis, Grandma Horn, Keith, Dora, Chad and all our Dearest Relatives who have passed away be in our Memories Forever as you will be in mine! God Bless You all. Fondest Memories are so many that I can't say but one of my most cherished was watching Dad's old camera's shot of Uncle doing a stunt for the camera and standing on the old style wooden sled standing up trying to do the farm hill! I am sorry his wipe out started some back problems! Uncle Rob was always a Gentleman and Gentle Sole with such Passion, Love and Positive attitude for all! Love you forever! • I always enjoyed my chats with Rob, at the family home on Cambridge. A very kind man who always made you feel welcome in his home. - Posted by: Trish Bergal (Family Friend) on: May 31, 2015
