KENNETH DOUGLAS MCCARTHY December 16, 1954 - May 6, 2015 Please God forgive a silent tear; A constant wish that he was here; Others were taken, yes I know; But he was mine and I love him so. I am profoundly grieved to announce the passing of my friend, partner and husband of 35 years, Ken, on May 6, 2015 at the Robbins Pavillion, Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton, Alberta. Ken was born to Dorothy Grace McCarthy (Morrison) and Robert Austin McCarthy on December 16, 1954 in Selkirk, Manitoba. In 1980 Ken moved to Victoria, BC, to join his love - Laurie. In 1981 Ken and Laurie moved to Edmonton where they set up their life and home. On May 17, 1986 Ken and Laurie married formally in Selkirk, Manitoba. Ken leaves to mourn in his passing his wife Laurie (Basaraba); best buddies Beau and Gillie; brother Terry (Lorna); nephews Kevin and Thomas; niece Kerry Epps (McCarthy); her husband Todd and family; nephew Robert and his wife Erin; and brothers-in-law Bernie and Carson Basaraba. Ken also leaves an extended family and countless treasured friends in Manitoba and Alberta to forever remember him. In keeping with Ken's wishes there will be no formal service, however, he wanted those whom he counted dear in life to join Laurie at a Wake at Gaffer's Restaurant and Lounge, 23020 Hwy. 44, Lockport, Manitoba on Saturday, June 13, 2015 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers Ken asked that donations be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 0R3 to honour all the furry friends that he held so dear Condolences: www.serenity.ca Serenity Funeral Service South Edmonth (780) 450-0101
