Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUSSELL GREGOIRE EVERETT 1966 - 2015 Russ was born on September 28, 1966 in Ile-a-la-Crosse, Saskatchewan wearing a pair of Birkenstocks. He passed away peacefully in Edmonton on May 31, 2015 from cancer in the company of his youngest son Jon, while loving family members rushed to his beside. Russ was predeceased by his mother Clementine Everett, father Joseph Everett, and nephew Cody-Joe. He leaves behind his sons Jon and Ben, their mother Maryann, cousin Linda and children Rene and Raquel, sister Barb and children Donovan and Brandee, aunts, uncles, cousins, colleagues and friends from across Canada. Russ was an architect by trade, but an artist at heart. He was quietly proud of being one of few aboriginal architects in Canada and his body of work spanned from sea to sea. Whether it was photography or painting, Russ excelled in every creative capacity. He loved curling, golf, movies and was a BBQ genius. Russ was a free spirit and entrepreneur who had a passion for trying new things and meeting new people. He was humble, caring, generous, non-judgemental and quick to offer respite to those who needed it in the form of gut-bursting laughter. He extended wisdom to those he loved. He will be remembered most fondly for his sense of humour, including his wish to have a "one foot in the grave party" this August. He died without fear, crying "Bring it on!" He was never one to live by anyone else's terms, and he did not die by them either. His mantra in the last months of his life was to "Pursue Happiness". This is the man we knew; the man we will always love and remember. Russell Gregoire Everett. A memorial service will be held in Winnipeg on June 15 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Crescentwood Community Centre, 1170 Corydon Ave. In lieu of flowers, gifts made in Russell Everett's memory may be directed to the University of Manitoba to establish an award for Indigenous Students in the Faculty of Architecture. Cheques payable to the University of Manitoba can be mailed to Donor Relations, 200-137 Innovation Drive, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 6B6 or made on-line at: umanitoba.ca/giving

Shocked and saddened to see his passing. He was really a man of good humour in school and was 'switch on'- always thinking. Brightened your day having him around. - Posted by: Steve Myers (Fellow T.U.N.S. Student) on: Dec 03, 2015

Russell my dear friend. I was shocked to hear of your passing. You poor, dear, happy soul. I will remember fondly our working relationship at two different practices -- ten years apart, but without any noticeable difference in your attitude or your determination. You will be missed. - Posted by: Don Stewart (Employer) on: Jul 09, 2015

Russ, you will be missed. I think of you every time I hear Shandra singing "Me and Bobbie McGee". Be at peace my friend. - Posted by: Juliet Gagnon (Friend) on: Jun 10, 2015
