ESTHER IDA CASPER (nee CLUPP) May 26, 1922 - June 10, 2015 It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Mom, with family at her side. She will be greatly missed by her five children Brian (Sheila), Doug (Lyn), Valerie (Bob Johnston), Janice (Taras Sokolyk), Wayne (Diane); nine grandchildren Jacqueline (Shane), Brett (Jessica), Tanya (Kevin), Troy (Stephanie), Chad (Natasha), Jenna (Karl), Michael, Kerri (Kori), Kaitlyn and eight great grandchildren. She will also be missed by her sisters Elaine (Greg Schwenneker), Florence and her brother, Lorne (Hazel) as well as her sister in laws, Dorothy Clupp, Adeline (Wallace Kien), Edna Brad, and brother in law Osborne Scott and many nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her parents, her husband Walter and several sisters/sister in laws and brother/brother in laws. Mom was born and raised in the Dominion City area. She married Walter on June 11, 1943. They lived "on the farm" until 1951 when they moved "to town". Once her children were grown she worked in Sokolyk's Store until she retired. Mom's life was her family. She loved to care for them and took great pride in creating and sewing beautiful clothing and fun costumes as well as baking her famous buns and bread for family gatherings. She did so enjoy playing cards or crib with family and friends and then bringing out coffee and her delicious baking. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren knew Great Granny would always have candy and goodie bags for them when they visited. She was known for her friendly demeanour and her ability to make everyone feel at ease and welcome. The family would like to thank the staff at Irene Baron Eden Home and River East PCH for the comfort, care and compassion shown to Mom during her stay. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your Charity of Choice. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberly Avenue, Winnipeg. Interment will follow at the Dominion City Cemetery at 4:30 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to: Morris Funeral Home 204-746-2451

  • Esther was one of several matriarchs on our busy street in Dominion City who looked out for the welfare of the many kids growing up there. She was always laughing and made us feel comfortable. I believe that Esther was the last of the Moms left from our "street gang". Our sincere condolences to the family-she will be missed but not forgotten.
