RODOLFO OCBINA August 20, 1946 - July 1, 2015 Rodolfo Ocbina, known by his friends and family as "Rudy", peacefully passed away on Canada Day, July 1, 2015, at the age of 68. He will be forever remembered by his wife, Ligaya (Ebora) Ocbina; children Ryan Ocbina, Liezel (Ocbina) Erskine, Shawn Erskine, grandson Zael Erskine and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rudy's memory will also be cherished in the Philippines by his surviving brothers Luisito Ocbina, Robin Jr. Ocbina, and sister Remedios (Ocbina) Domanais. Rudy was born in Sapian Roxas City, Capiz, Philippines. The first son to Robin Ocbina and Ligaya (De Guzman) Ocbina. He studied Electricity at the Philippines College of Arts and Technology and successfully passed the Electrical Engineering Board Exam in 1972. He practiced as Master Electrician until he immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 1977. His first job in Canada was in Gillam, Manitoba working at Manitoba Hydro. But his dedication to the community as a Home Care Attendant was where he was well-known. After 21 years of service with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority he retired in 2005. Rudy enjoyed volunteering and continued to serve the community as a Commissioner of Oaths from 2003. Viewing will be held at Mosaic Funeral Home, 1006 Nairn Avenue on Thursday, July 16 and Friday July 17 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Edward's Church Saturday, July 18 at 2:00 p.m. and reception to follow at Mosaic Funeral Home, 1839 Inkster Blvd. The Ocbina family would like to thank our friends, family, and the doctors and staff on 3East at the Riverview Health Center for their care and support.
