Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryREINHARD JANSSON June 13, 1925 - July 13, 2015 After a brief illness, Reinhard passed away peacefully on July 13, 2015 at the Victoria General Hospital, with his family by his side. Born in Liessau, Germany to Gustav and Kathe, he was the second youngest of six. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Liesel, of nearly 64 years; sons, Peter (Donna) and Hartmut (Daniela); and daughter Marlies (Paul Burgoyne). Proud and loving grandfather to Angela and Jodi, Maya and Kandice, Kyle (Laurence) and Devin. Great-grandfather to Mila. Predeceased by his brother Kurt and sisters, Ilse, Anneliese and Gertrud. Survived by his loving, younger sister Christel Wienss, in Lierschied, Germany. As a testament to his exemplary positive life, he passed away on a high note - one month to the day after a wonderful celebration of his 90th birthday with family and friends. Emigrated from Germany with his wife in 1952 and worked hard as a bricklayer to provide a loving and secure home. He had a zest for life and adventure, and a wonderful sense of curiosity - he learned scuba diving and computers in his 70's, and recently got an iPhone. He remained active after retirement with Liesel, including travel in Europe and the US, hosting grandkids, bird watching, early morning swims, and medaling in numerous Seniors Games. He was an active volunteer at the Fort Whyte Centre and Manitoba Seniors Society, among others. For any memorial donations, consider Victoria General Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R3T 2E8. Memorial service: Thursday, July 16, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Dakota House, 1145 Dakota St. He will forever be remembered in our hearts.

That's very sad about Reinhard. He was always a highlight of my spring when him and Liesel would show up for Birding and Breakfast. And I always loved how he would wear his retro FortWhyte shirts at the Christmas with such pride. He will be sadly missed. Jody Reinhard and Liesel were a lovely pair to see at all our events. I will miss him. Katrina It is such sad news to lose such a long-term volunteer, supporter and FortWhyte ambassador. Reinhard was such an interesting and kind man. I remember cooking pancakes with Liesel and Reinhard many years ago. Lovely couple. Sounds like a life very well lived. An inspiration. Louise So sad - I loved working with him at goose flights. Liesel is amazing with the cash at canteen! It doesn't surprise me that he was a bricklayer - he has a solid work ethic. FWA was made all the better b/c of him, and his work and place in that beautiful place will be a legacy Dayna Indeed a sad day He and his wife were one of the best things about volunteering at Ft. Whyte Years ago when the center had pancake breakfasts on Mother’s day, these two were busy in the kitchen stirring up the batter , chatting away in German and having a blast.... Was so nice to see and be part of He will be missed and remembered fondly by all who crossed paths with him and his wife. Stan That is sad news I will miss Reinhard. He was a great volunteer and a great man all round. John Gunn We saw the notice of Reinhard's death as well, and were most saddened by the news. However, he lived a good, long, active life. I have known him for years, beginning with Manitoba Nature over 30 years ago, our involvement with FWA for about 25 years,, and over the last few years as co-competitors in the Plus 55 games of the Manitoba Seniors Association. We competed together in the walk and swimming races, usually in different age categories, and he certainly set the standards for we younger folk. We will miss him especially at the FWA volunteer events. Leisel is also a special person, not only for her great support of Reinhard and his activities, but as an enthusiastic and well informed birder as well. I hope we will continue to see her at the FWA gatherings. Bob & Judy - Posted by: FortWhyte Alive (Volunteers) on: Jul 20, 2015
