MAX LEVENSTEIN Beloved father, grandfather, companion and friend. Max passed away peacefully at Langley Memorial Hospital in B.C. after a short battle with very aggressive lung cancer. Max was born in Montreal but he grew up in Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his parents Rose and Kalman Levenstein of Winnipeg. He was also predeceased by his loving wife of 45 years, Nancy who passed in 2012. Max leaves his daughters Alisa Levenstein (Terry) and Cindy Schubert (Jeremy); and his grandchildren Gabriel and Davin to mourn him. Known for his crazy sense of humour, his fun and generous spirit, his love of his garden, and zeal for business and political debate, he was loved by all who knew him. Over the last three years, Max re-united with a circle of friends from years past. These connections brought great joy to his life. Max also met his companion Maxine with whom he discovered a love of travel and the arts. The funeral was held at Beth Tikvah cemetery in White Rock B.C. on Tuesday August 4, 2015. The family would like to especially thank his doctors, and Dick and Sandy Conner for their support and warmth during Max's final hours. We appreciated all of the wonderful friends and family, both from far away and nearby whose acts of kindness and words of comfort will not be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the B.C. Lung Association, the B.C. Cancer Foundation or Beth Tikvah Synagogue, Richmond, B.C. Max will be missed terribly and will remain forever in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, companion and friends.

  • Max had a terrific sense of humour and great appreciation of what life handed to him. He lived life to the fullest, cared deeply for his friends and most of all his family and grandsons. He will be sorely missed. I feel blessed to have known him as my son's father - in law and Gabriel's grandfather. - Posted by: Eunice M Carvajal (Mother of Alisa's husband Terry) on: Aug 12, 2015
