ANNA KRYSTINA WIERZBOWSKI It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Anna Krystina Wierzbowski on Friday, August 14, 2015 while on vacation in Mexico at the age of 51. Anna will be lovingly remembered by her mother Tela Karabin; two stepsisters of Calgary; Darcia (Ken) and their children Charles and Roxanna, and Lydia (Mike). Also by her special Auntie Irene and Uncle Ralph many aunts, uncles and cousins in Poland. Anna also leaves to mourn, special longtime friends Margaret, Violet, Tom, Cliff, Gary, Lucyna (Chris and Kay) and many friends in Winnipeg and Edmonton along with mother and father-in-law Ev and Willy Shadbolt of Katepwa Lake, Saskatchewan. Anna was predeceased by her father Slanislaw (Piotr) Wierzbowski, stepfather Bill Karabin, husband Jeff Shadbolt and paternal grandmother Halina Wierzbowska. Anna was born in Legnica, Poland on January 5, 1964 and immigrated to Canada with her mother in 1973. Anna's mother Tela met Bill and they were married in 1974 where they chose to live in St. Andrews and raise Anna. Anna graduated from Lord Selkirk High School and continued her education at the University of Winnipeg and University of Manitoba obtaining a Bachelor of Arts and Occupational Therapy degrees. Anna worked various jobs throughout her life and chose a career as an occupational therapist working in both Edmonton and Selkirk. Anna was a very caring and compassionate person. She was always there to help a friend, stranger or an animal with anything they needed. She had a great love for life and her faith. A service will be held on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Church, 342 Pritchard Ave. Wpg. (entry also from Selkirk Ave). A reception will follow at 11:00 a.m. at The Royal Canadian Legion Polish Branch, 1335 Main Street, Wpg. to celebrate Anna's life where friends and family are welcomed to share stories. Anna's ashes will be interred with her father in Legnica, Poland at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Anna's honour to any Animal Shelter.
