AILSA IRIS CROOK (nee REID) March 24, 1931 - September 2, 2015 After a lengthy illness, on September 2, 2015, Ailsa passed away at the Emerson Personal Care Home at the age of 84. She was predeceased by her husband Edwin, and is survived by her daughter Susan Mestdagh (Don) of Naramata, British Columbia, her sister Jean Crawford, and her cousin Maryanne Frater (Walter), along with many other family members and close friends. Ailsa was born on March 24, 1931, in Trinidad, West Indies, but lived the majority of her life in Winnipeg with Edwin and daughter Susan. Over the years, she enjoyed traveling (she was an excellent navigator), gardening with an expert green thumb, baking fabulous treats, and reading voraciously. After retirement, on Ed's family farm near Letellier, she and Edwin enjoyed entertaining and cooking together for family and friends - there were numerous fond memories of special occasions and feasts in the old farmhouse. She may not have lived in Trinidad anymore, but her true "Trini" spirit was never far away when family and friends were around. Many thanks go to the very devoted staff at the Emerson Personal Care Home. Everyone (Dr. Basta, nurses, nursing aides, kitchen staff, housekeeping staff, Tammy and volunteer services, and administration) cannot be thanked enough for all the care and compassionate support that they showed Mum during her stay there. Cremation has taken place, and there will be a small private graveside ceremony for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ailsa's name to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Ailsa will be missed by many friends and family, world-wide. It is only because her suffering has finally ended, that we can say goodbye without sadness. May she enjoy being with Ed and Sammy once again. Nighty-night, lovely lady. Arrangements Entrusted to: Morris Funeral Home 204-746-2451

Beautiful memories of Ailsa. She was a dear soul & I will miss her.Visited with Ailsa,on my visits to Emerson.Ailsa was an amazing, articulate, and intelligent lady. Her quick wit,was so much enjoyed by all that knew her. She knew so much, and after 60 years,I learned how to pull a weed properly, from Ailsa!! Can you believe that?! Ailsa was emaculate in every way. Will miss her so. My condolences to Susan & Don. Thinking of you both at this difficult time.Take care of yourselves. - Posted by: Ruth Ostafichuk (Cousin) on: Sep 05, 2015
