WILLIAM ELIAS LAFERINE (PEKASE) Peacefully surrounded by family William Elias Laferine passed away on September 8, 2015 at the age of 88 years. Dad, Grandfather (Great-Great), Uncle, Godfather, Dada and friend to many. His love, faith, hope and spirit is what made him such a humble and compassionate person. We honor his 88 years of life and we will forever cherish his teachings. William was born at Hollow Water on August 2, 1927 to Catherine and John Lafreniere where he lived most of his life as a commercial fisherman and trapper. He was predeceased by his wife Hilda of 57 years in 2003, his son Stanley in 1980 and four other children and a great-granddaughter Jasmine in 2014. He leaves to mourn his passing two daughters Bernice (Alec), Rose and granddaughter Melba whom he and his wife Hilda raised. Also, Barry (Wanda) and Rita whom they loved and considered their children. Five grandchildren, Greg (Laura), Art (Rhonda), Romanda (Harland), Seneca (Tracy) and Cheryl; 15 Great-Grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren. He was Grandpa-Dada to all. Special thank you to his very best friend Tommy Monkman. In celebration of his life, wake services will be held September 10 and 11, 2015 at Hollow Water First Nation Community Hall. A service will follow Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev Norman Meade officiating. Special thank you to Southeast Personal Care Home staff for their love and compassion.   • My sincerest apologies for not acknowledging Dad's in-laws, Thelma & Norman Meade & Oliver Sinclair in this obituary. It was very difficult to remember at such a challenging time. I am so sorry Aunt & Uncles. On behalf of the family, we cannot find the words to express our gratitude and love for all who worked so hard to have a beautiful life celebration of our DAD...it was a beautiful funeral and an absolutely beautiful day.   • William was such a kind and gentle man. He always had a smile on his face. He would often enjoy the snacks that his family would bring in for him. I remember he went on an outing with Melba and got to dance that night. Well William I know you are dancing with the creator. I am so very lucky to have met you and your wonderful family.
