JOSEPH (JOJO) LAIVEY Joseph "JoJo" Laivey passed away at Health Sciences Centre on Monday, September 7, 2015 at 63 years of age. A ward of the Province, JoJo spent the last 35 years of his life at Actionmarguerite (Centre Taché). The caring people there including employees and volunteers made it JoJo's home. He confirmed this while hospitalized saying he just wanted to go home. They confirmed this by visiting him at St. Boniface Hospital and Health Sciences Centre over the last two months. For over 25 years JoJo was in the loving care of the Berthe and Irénée La Flèche family of St-Charles. He considered their children as his siblings and they as Mommy and Daddy. JoJo was an unabashed fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the Montreal Canadiens and the Rolling Stones. He was always at the forefront of popular culture and loved talking politics. He was not shy around Roman Catholic Bishops, MPs, Deputy-Mayors, MLAs or CFL and WHA superstars. In many ways JoJo was special and he surely showed us more about love and honesty than we who knew him could ever have taught him. JoJo's Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles Street, Winnipeg, MB. Interment will follow in St. Charles Roman Catholic Parish Cemetery. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB in care of arrangements 204.897.4665.
