JULIE ANN ROBSON (HANCOCK) After a courageous battle with cancer, Julie passed away at the Health Sciences Centre on Monday, September 28, 2015. Julie will be forever and deeply missed by her husband Doug; sons, Robert (Heidy) and Ben; grandson Tommy. She also leaves to mourn her siblings, Tracey, Tim and Andrew (Alaina); and by in-laws, Harold and Judy, Andrew and Alma, and Pam and Gord, and many nieces and nephews; parents-in-law, Robert and Lorraine; and stepmother Diane. Julie was born on December 17, 1959 in Belleville, Ontario. She was the first born of four children and moved to Winnipeg in 1966 and in 1976, moved to Cooks Creek, Manitoba, where she graduated from Springfield Collegiate in Oak Bank in 1977. That summer she worked with City of Winnipeg Summer Playground program, where she met the love of her life. Julie and Doug were married on April 5, 1980, and honeymooned in Banff, Alberta, the start of their lifelong love of travelling to Banff every year. Julie and Doug recently celebrated their 35th anniversary. They made their home and raised their family in East St. Paul, Manitoba. Doug was more than her husband, he was her soulmate, best friend, and partner in all aspects of life. Julie was employed at Salisbury Morse Place for over 35 years. where she touched the hearts of so many teachers, parents and children with her passion and love of reading in her libraries. Julie joined the Albright Church congregation 15 years ago. Her faith was strong and endless. Even in the midst of her battle with cancer, she knew God's "tidal wave of love, grace, mercy and goodness" covered her and strengthened her, as she continued to live her life to honour God. Our family would like to extend sincere thanks to the team of professionals at CancerCare at HSC, and to the staff in GD4 and GD5 at HSC for their special care over the last three weeks. I remember when Ms. Robson was the librarian at SMP. She was the most kind and joyful person. She would light up the room with her smile. I would go to the library at lunch to book club where she would read to us a long novel chapter by chapter every week. She taught me punctuality, respect, kindness, and was one of the most wonderful people I ever knew. I was happy to be the master of ceremonies for the 100th anniversary of the school and her be there was a special moment. - Posted by: Mason Cameron (Student - Salisbury Morse Place School) on: Aug 30, 2019

A friend and mentor for 35 years, I knew her since the age of 11 years. I was one of her 1st students when she came to Salisbury but to me she was so much more than just a librarian. She had the power to change people's lives by influencing them just by being present. And that's what she did for me. It's the ultimate gift, I think, that money and things can't buy - when you give someone your time and you let them be around you even when you have a house to clean, groceries to pick up, meals to make and a family to take care of. She let me be with her when there was no one else to be with and I got to follow the example that she set. It changed the course of my life because she gave me guidance when I needed it most. - Posted by: Laureen Kornel (Student and later friend) on: Jun 23, 2016

I worked briefly at SMP as the Community Coordinator and a teacher. Julie was so friendly and helpful. She put in extra time helping me in the evenings with School family events like Movie Nights and making Gingerbread Houses. I heard today of her passing and what a loss for the SMP community. A great photo of Julie! She was truly a beautiful person inside and out. - Posted by: J.Martin (coworker ) on: Apr 21, 2016

I will miss my friend. I enjoyed her company at the lake. She especially liked going boating and beachcombing with the dogs. For 20 years my friend Julie has been part of a group of girls who meet in cottage country every fall. We are so Thankful this group of girls met in late August instead of September and were blessed with her company. She will be deeply missed at future get-togethers. Mrs.Robson was a wonderful lady with a big heart who I always saw had a smile. I remember her from kindergarten when she used to read us story's at library and make sure we had our legs crossed and our mouths closed I never enjoyed reading and I'm not very good at it but she always found me some short stories I could enjoy while allot of the other students would read there long novels, when I got into grade five I started to learn how the library was arranged with the alphabetical orders and genres. So instead of taking out books that I would never read anyways I would help her return the books to there rightful spot. I was like her little assistant which I loved since I did not enjoy reading. When I got to middle years I would help her organize the middle years library and talk with her and she helped me find a couple good books that I actually read (although I only finished one or two) I will always remember Mrs.Robson as a kind and wonderful librarian and I wish her and her family the best and I wish I could have visited her once before she passed. For my elementary and jr. high years she was a pillar in my school... knowing her as a teacher, one that loved "her" children, always smiling, listening and guiding us.. fast forward to the late 90's where she became all that for my old son... fast forward again to the 2000's where once again I got the privilege to reconnect with her, this time for my middle son and daughter... now she was Julie to me instead of Mrs. Robson... Today we remembered just how lucky we were to have known her... Salisbury Morse Place libraries will not be the same without your contagious smile... We will miss you... and look forward to the day we can meet again.. - Posted by: Jennifer Vasas (Former student and mother to former and current students) on: Oct 03, 2015

We are so saddened to learn of Julie's untimely passing when she had so much to give to her family, her profession and her church. Our our deepest sympathies and sincerest condolences are extended to all her family. Julie has been known to us ever since she began her career at Salisbury Morse Place School. We had the good fortune of both our daughters loving to go into her library and always coming home highly enthusiastic about Mrs Robson. Julie was forever the exuberant person who would light up a room or a meeting like a burst of sunshine. Always positive in her outlook she inspired students and adults alike. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. May the sun eternally shine upon her face and the wind always blow upon her back. Please save us a cozy corner in your heavenly library. À Dieu and farewell. - Posted by: Norm and Sachi Guilbert (Retired colleagues) on: Oct 02, 2015

I'm really going to miss Mrs. Robson, she was lots of fun and I liked being with her in the library. She was always nice to me. She helped me to find books that she knew I would love to read and she always was right. There are lots of very sad teachers and kids at school and library time won't be the same without Mrs. Robson. Our family first met Mrs. Robson when our daughter attended elementary school where she was the librarian. She taught our daughter to love books and enjoy the wondrous adventures found within the pages of the books. Because of this amazing woman, our daughter was reading years beyond her age. Our lives have been blessed by her as she was always happy to see us and treated us as family would treat us. We will miss her dearly but take our memories of her with us. Our condolences to her family and friends. - Posted by: Sarah, parent of a former student () on: Oct 01, 2015

I met Julie at Albright Church. Our daughter Jocelyn, Julie, myself, Elaine and others were on the drama team at church. We worked side by side doing whatever needed to be done at the time at various times in church. Julie was sincere, smart, inquisitive and good make laugh when I least expected. She was the 2nd "mom" to our daughter Jocelyn when were in a play together as mother & daughter. We miss Julie greatly. The Robson family is in our prayers and know the God is carrying you through this time of grief and loss. Be assured Julie is now dancing, singing, smiling and probably reading in heaven with Jesus. - Posted by: Judy Silva (Friend) on: Oct 01, 2015

I met Julie at Albright Church when she volunteered to help with our perogy making fundraiser. She said it she wanted to help for selfish reasons (she wanted to learn how to make perogies) but she didn't have a selfish bone in her body. She was my right-hand lady when organizing our fundraisers and learned the recipe perfectly. She never refused when I asked her for her help with the fundraisers and I will miss her terribly. My prayers are with you Doug, Rob, Heidy, Ben and Thomas. - Posted by: Laurie Lyss (Friend) on: Oct 01, 2015

Mrs.Robson was our librarian when I was in elementary school. She was someone I always looked forward to seeing every day. She saw how much I loved to read and encouraged it like no other. She would gather big stacks of books for me, ones she knew I would like and ones she thought were important for me to read, and have them ready when I came to the library. She was such a wonderful woman, she truly cared about the people in her life and the lives of those she touched. Knowing her changed my life, I have never and will never forget about her. My heart goes out to her family and loved ones. She was a truly special lady and I know she will be deeply missed. Rest in peace Mrs.Robson - Posted by: Shayla Elliott (Student ) on: Oct 01, 2015

I went to school where Ms. Robson was the librarian and when I didn't have any friends or anyone to talk to, she went out of her way to make sure I didn't feel too lonely by just having conversations with me and including me in small project that needed to be done. I was a student of hers in the 90s. She always had a smile on her face and was so helpful and involved with the kids. You could really tell she was passionate about her job. I was in the drama club and I remember every year for the play, her going above and beyond and staying late to help us set up the stage and lighting. Ms.Robson was one of the most kind hearted women you would ever have the chance to meet. I have memories of her reading to my class as a child, and helping me find that special book. All the way up to after my graduation when I would stop by to say hi to some of my old teachers as an adult, she would remeber me right away and would have such an interest about how my life is, what I've been up too and how my family is doing. She went way too soon and will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure to meet her. - Posted by: Kris Greenley (Student ) on: Sep 30, 2015

My brother and I were students of Salisbury School in the early 80's and Mrs. Robson was just starting out at that time. We always remember her as the sweetest person, always with a smile on her face. She made reading such a joy for her students and always took the time to help us find the perfect book. I was so happy to find out that she was still working at Salisbury Morse Place when my two boys started school just a few years ago. She was still the same happy, smiling lady I always remember from many moons ago and my boys were blessed to have her as a librarian as well. We were all so upset when we heard she was sick and absolutely devastated when we found out that she had lost her battle at such a young age. We want to give our sincere condolences to her family. We will always hold her dear in our hearts for making such a huge impact in our childhoods. Salisbury Morse Place will never be quite the same without her. Rest in peace Mrs. Robson. We will truly miss you. - Posted by: Sandra (Student) on: Sep 30, 2015
