MARION EDITH CORBETT We are heartbroken to announce that in the early morning hours of September 30, 2015, shortly after celebrating her 89th birthday, Marion Edith (nee Sugden) Corbett passed into heaven with her family at her side. Marion was a loving wife to Norman Wilfred Corbett who predeceased her in 2000. She was predeceased also by her parents John Leslie Sugden and Beatrice Marion (nee Alexander) Sugden. She is survived by her children: Diane (Gill); Brian (Rena); Rick (Heather); her grandchildren: David, Geoff, Caitlin, Chris, and Keith; and her cousin Mary Lou Pasqualotto. Marion was a long time, staunch member of the United Church of Canada. She loved to swim and cross country ski. Marion also loved music and literature, and instilled this love of both in her children and grandchildren. Marion sang in several choirs. She was a mentor, an educator, and a math tutor. Marion loved books and reading and worked for many years as an assistant to the librarian at several schools. Her love of learning continued into her later years, as she pursued courses of interest at the University of Winnipeg. Marion was a strong supporter of the visual arts and the music community. She was a long time supporter of the Fort Whyte Centre, and a fierce protector of nature and the environment. Marion was a poliomyelitis survivor, who embraced this as well as the other challenges she faced later in life. The family would like to thank the following for their care and many kindnesses: the staff at Sturgeon Creek II assisted living facility, and all of the staff at Grace Hospital 5 North. Thanks also to the special friends who supported Marion through the years, with special mention of Ollie Elaschuk, Jeanie Farrington, and the Dewson family.
