Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH COATES (MORROW) November 15, 1932 - September 29, 2015 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Betty on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at West Park Manor. Betty is survived by her son Jeff (Andrea); grandchildren Evan and Stacy; her daughter Maureen Thomas (Ralph); grandchildren Allison and Erin; her son Bryan (Catherine); sisters Helen Thorne and Margaret Johnson. She was predeceased by her husband, Hugh Coates; her parents Daniel and Mary Morrow and her brother David Morrow. Mum was born in Winnipeg and spent her early years in Elmwood. After graduating from Lord Selkirk High School she worked for the Winnipeg Electric Railway Company where she met Hugh. After getting married, Mum and Dad moved to St. James where they resided for many years. A longtime member of Sturgeon Creek United Church, mum taught Sunday school and volunteered with visitations and at funerals. After raising her family, mum returned to work and was employed at Marks and Spencer at Polo Park. As mum was a real "people person" she thoroughly enjoyed her time with her co-workers and customers. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed her monthly dances with Hugh and her daily crossword and jumbles. The family gives their heartfelt thanks to the staff of 2 South at West Park Manor; your caring treatment of mum is much appreciated. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 7 at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba or to a charity of one's choice. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 204-885-9715

Dear Jeff, Maureen and Bryan, I recently heard about your beloved Mother's passing. Although it has been many years since I last saw your Mom, she has always had a special place in my heart. You all have. May you know that you will always remain in my prayers. Love Caroline - Posted by: Caroline Gunther (nee Nogue) (friend) on: Dec 08, 2017

My condolences on the loss of your mother. Betty was a pleasant soft spoken lady. My father, Jules Gheeraert, worked with Hugh at the Transit. Together they struck up a life long friendship. Our families visited together often and went on camping trips. - Posted by: Maria (Gheeraert) Mathieson () on: Oct 05, 2015

My condolences to your family in the loss of your mother and grandmother. I had lost touch with Betty once she was unable to attend church which often occurs in these circumstances. I regret to advise that I will be unable to attend the service due to a prior commitment. - Posted by: Nan Christie (member of Sturgeon Creek United Chursh) on: Oct 03, 2015
