SIDNEY FLACKMAN Sidney (Ace) Flackman passed away on the 13th of Tishre, 5776, surrounded by his loving children and former wife, a few hours into Shabbat. Sid was an active supporter of the Jewish community for many years. As an advocate of further education, Sid worked very hard for decades furthering his own education through obtaining multiple Masters degrees and various accounting designations. As a remarkable father, Sid was always such a very strong supporter of his children's uniqueness and independent development. Dad leaves behind six incredible, beloved grandchildren, four children, sister, extended family, and many wonderful and funny memories. Thank you for all the help and support we have received throughout this process. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society in Dad's memory.

I remember Sid from High School, with great affection. I left Winnipeg in 1963 and never returned, to my regret. Shalom, my friend. - Posted by: Bob Graf (school friend) on: Jan 21, 2016

I attended high school with Sid and then, when he returned to U of Manitoba for his MSc, we car-pooled together for several years and re-established our friendship. This friendship was renewed about ten years ago in my many visits to Winnipeg. I will always remember with great fondness Sid's formidable intellect, depth of spirit, incredible sense of humour, and kindness. I would like to extend my sincerest sympathies to his kids and to Bev, who I also consider a friend. - Posted by: Don Sinclair (Friend) on: Jan 18, 2016

You are missed every Friday morning at the Twist, it's just not the same without you. Your stories and jokes always made the rest of the day more enjoyable. Rest well my Dear Friend and Yes I did find that link in the family tree. How I wish you were here to laugh about it with me! - Posted by: Randi (Friday Morning Coffee Friend) on: Oct 16, 2015

Sid and I were very close friends in junior high and high school, living within 2 blocks of one another, and then later as young parents when my then-wife and I grew close to Sid and Bev. As kids, Sid and I frequented Harold's Book Store, Barry's Joke Shop and other downtown haunts and riffled through our collections of vaguely 'dirty' magazines. We did stupid things such as throw a baseball up in the air at night and hope it wouldn't hit one of us on the head. I last visited him, at the house on Rupertsland, during a trip to Winnipeg a number of years ago. I had no idea he was ill. My condolences to his family, which I remember with affection. - Posted by: Martin Levin (Friend) on: Oct 03, 2015
