HERBERT FRANZ BOTTCHER Peacefully, with his family by his side, Herbert Franz Bottcher passed away at the age of 89 on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Portage Hospital. Herbert was the loving husband of Meta, who predeceased him on February 11, 2015. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Carol Janke officiating. Following lunch, interment will be held at the Oakville Cemetery. He will be sadly missed by his children and grandchildren Fred (Donna) Bottcher, Michael and Alana; Helen (Dave) Connelly, Kelsey; Irene (David) Hysop, Dan, Eric and Christine; Krista (Jerry) Grant, Dillon and Alora. He will also be missed by eight great-grandchildren, and his sister Grete. Herbert was born on January 21, 1926 in Konigsberg, East Prussia. On March 26, 1949, he married Meta, and in 1952 they immigrated to Canada, settling in Oakville. Herbert worked for the Manitoba Pool Elevators for over 35 years. He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Winnipeg. Special thanks to the nurses and home-care aides, whose care allowed Dad to remain in his home, to the nurses and caregivers at the hospital for their care and compassion during the last three weeks. A very special thank you to Shelly, for not only providing guidance, but for your compassion given to Dad and our entire family during the last month.
