JOHN JAMES BURNETT
Date of Passing: Sep 30, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN JAMES (JACK) BURNETT Peacefully, on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, John J. (Jack) Burnett passed away at the Altona Health Centre at the age of 95 years. He was predeceased by his parents John and Maude Burnett, first wife Edythe in 1975, second wife Christina in 2014, brothers Everett, Clifford, Austin, and sister Muriel. He is survived by his daughters June Schwartz (Reine d. 2007), Edna (Marc) Legault, and Connie (Dave) Taillon, stepson Gary Vaughan (Monica), as well as eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Jack grew up in the Mill Creek District, Manitoba. He farmed with his father and then his brother and nephew. He had a lifelong interest in playing and watching several sports and enjoyed his time in association with those teammates. He was pleased to visit whenever family, neighbours or friends stopped to say hello. He missed the Portage community after he left in 2014 but was grateful to those who kept in touch. Dad attended Fortier Gospel Chapel for many years with family. Despite health challenges in recent years, he found comfort in his faith and still enjoyed singing hymns - many known by memory. We would like to thank the staff at "Gardens on Tenth" supportive housing in Altona and the staff at Altona Health Centre for their kindness and care. Service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, October 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Highway Pentecostal Church, 1680 Saskatchewan Ave. West, Portage La Prairie, Manitoba with a reception to follow in the church. Private burial will precede the service at Oakville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made to Faith Bible Camp Memorial Fund, PO Box 42059, RPO Ferry Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3J 3X7, or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to RONALD MOFFIT MEMORIAL SERVICES.
