ARMANDO CRUZ MARTIN JR. It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father on Friday, October 30, 2015 at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife Estrella Martin; their three children, Nenita De Torres (Arnel), Christine Martin and Frederick Martin, nine grandchildren: Chelle Sea (Hansel), Nichole, Kristina, Maribeth (Marvin), Ashley, Leeza Rae (Scott), Belinda (Colin), Stefanie and Tiffanie, and six great-grandchildren. Armando is the eldest of 11 children (parents predeceased). He also left behind three surviving brothers and four sisters along with many nieces and nephews. Armando Martin was born on September 26, 1940 in Pasig City, Philippines and moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1973. He was a fun, loving person who was actively involved with his community, politics, and the love of sports. During his years in Winnipeg from 1973 to 1994 Armando knew pretty much everyone in Winnipeg, and Winnipeg certainly knows him too. To family and friends he is known by many nicknames "Jhun", "JR", "Mr Miyagi" and the famous nickname of all time "Kojak". Armando worked for CN Railway for 25 years. Even though Vancouver was where he resided for the last 21 years, Winnipeg is what he still calls home. Despite his health issues he still made time to travel to the Philippines yearly for the past 15 plus years to be with his other siblings, nieces and nephews, and beloved Nana Floreng and Fely. Visitation and prayers will be held Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Burquitlam Funeral Home in Coquitlam, BC. The service will be held Friday, November 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. A live webcasting will be available for Winnipeg family and friends to view.
