MICHAEL KARL WALTER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Walter on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the age of 61. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Brenda, his children Becky and Graham (Jolene), stepdaughter Kelly (Juan), sister Barbara (Peter), grandchildren Sam and Emily, as well as Brenda's entire family and all of the Mullins. He will be greatly missed as well by his dogs Polly, Megs and Ben. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lynda and his parents, Karl and Erika. Mike was a really amazing guy. He was born in Germany and immigrated to Canada with his family as an infant. He grew up in Boucherville, Quebec just outside Montreal. After some travel around Canada as a young man, he met his first wife Lynda and moved to Winnipeg. He always worked hard and was a loving and devoted dad to his kids. He held a variety of positions as a business manager over the years (primarily working with computers and cars), but especially loved working at NOTT Autocorp. Mike also volunteered his time on many different boards, and his big heart always lead him to help anyone he could. Most of all, he was a joker. Those who knew him best would say he was most famous for his sense of humour, and he was always quick with a pun or prank to make people smile. Mike was a jack of all trades and there was nothing he couldn't repair, build or improve in some way. He was great at gardening and passionate about wood working. Mike was an artist when it came to crafting bowls and fine art pieces out of wood. He was fluent in four languages and enjoyed talking about ideas with anyone and everyone. Mike also loved music and was often serenading those around him with a selection of his favourite songs and / or a tune on the harmonica. Despite his silly side, he was just a really strong, capable man that had a way of making people around him feel at ease. We will all miss our Superman. The family wishes to extend its sincerest thanks to Dr. Norbert Viallet and the many dedicated paramedics of our city. In keeping with Mike's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. If so desired, memorial donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB in care of arrangements 204.897.4665. • Condolences to the family. Mike was a good friend I worked with him for a number of years. He was a great fella. He will definitely be missed by many. - Posted by: Barbara Summers (Friend) on: Feb 21, 2025

  • SAD TO HEAR OF THE PASSING OF MY OLD FRIEND. MIKE SOLD ME MY FIRST NEW CAR IN 1979. WE SHOT A LOT OF POOL GAMES AND ATTENDED A LOT OF BOXING MATCHES. I COULD RELY ON MIKE FOR HELP NO MATTER WHAT I NEEDED. CONDOLENCES TO BRENDA WHO I NEVER MET AND BECKY WHO PROBABLY DOES NOT REMEMBER ME BUT I PICKED HER UP ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AT HER DAYCARE BEFORE SHE ATTENDED SCHOOL. MIKE WAS TRULY A CLASS ACT AND ONE OF A KIND. - Posted by: ALEX ZAPOROWSKI () on: Dec 30, 2015

  • Mike was quite a guy. We worked together over 35 years ago, he was so proud of his kids and glowed when he talked about them. Family was really the most important to him, I'm sure he has left you with amazing memories. We crossed paths many times over the years and always picked up the conversation where we had left off, like long lost cousins. He will be missed by all who knew him, for good reason. - Posted by: Cindy Garofalo (Friend) on: Dec 29, 2015

  • Mike hired me at a time when I really, really, really needed a job. It was a wonderful opportunity and he was really very good to me, even years after I no longer worked for him. I was so sorry to hear of his passing and I wish comfort and peace for his family and friends. - Posted by: Lindsey (former employee) on: Dec 16, 2015

  • You will be greatly missed Mike. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mike's wife, daughter, son and family. He was an amazing man. Incredibly intelligent, funny and artistic. He could take a piece of wood and make it into a beautiful piece of art. He could make a computer network sing..... and he always had a off kind of humour that I will miss! RIP my friend. To a better place and fond memories in my heart! - Posted by: jack shapira (long time freind ) on: Nov 28, 2015
