CHAD HENSCHEL Chad Henschel, 45, passed away peacefully at home January 22, 2016. He is survived by his wife Tegan and son Garrett. He also leaves behind his mother MaryAnn (James) Cromwell, his father Ken (Marilyn), brother Cal (Deanna), niece Madison, and nephew Joshua. Also survived by mother and father-in-law Ward and Arlene Garrett, sister-in-law Briana Garrett, and niece Avyn. Chad graduated from Transcona Collegiate Institute in 1988 where he met many of his lifelong friends. Chad used his many talents with a number of jobs which included improving his culinary skills at a local pizza spot to being the familiar face behind the bar at the Grain Exchange Curling Club. Chad fulfilled many dreams. As a young man he flew to California with his friends to purchase a Porsche 944 which made him the envy of local car enthusiasts. He partook in a number of home renovation projects with his brother, Cal, and best friend, Brent, where they transformed many houses to the thrill and delight of the future homeowners. His last renovation effort was on his own home back in Transcona. Ultimately Chad decided on a career in health care obtaining his Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Manitoba in 2000. Chad always talked about wanting his career choice to allow him to travel so not surprising, his first job was in Churchill, MB where he met the love of his life, Tegan. After Churchill he began a career at Health Sciences Centre (HSC) ER. Chad thrived in the chaos of emergency nursing and loved working at HSC. Chad enjoyed traveling and was able to combine nursing and travel. He lived in Maine, Las Vegas and South Dakota and travelled all over Canada and the US. Road trips were his favourite and many great memories were made while driving across the country. By far Chad's proudest moment was the birth of their son. Chad has requested that there be no funeral service. We would like to thank all the staff of the Palliative Care Unit in St. Boniface, nurse Richard, Dr. Kim Wiebe for her kindness and compassion, the staff of CancerCare specifically clinic nurse Deb, Dr. Chowdhury, Dr. James Paul, Tache Pharmacy, and all the many friends and family who provided support, meals and childcare. In lieu of flowers, friends and family are welcome to make donations to the Winnipeg Palliative Care Program or to the Garrett Henschel Trust, set up at all Casera Credit Union locations.
