SHIRLEY ANN FULFORD (nee PEWARCHUK) October 29, 1941 - January 26, 2016 With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Melanie (Patrick) and Tracy (Jeffrey) and grandchildren, Matthew, Gillian, Kai and Maya as well as her best friend, Buddy, her dog. She was predeceased by her husband, Courtney, her parents, Peter and Charlotte as well as her sister, Jeanette. Shirley had a fulfilling career as a secretary that she started after graduating from MIT. She began her career with the Welfare Department, then Pioneer Grain. After raising her children, Mom worked for the Department of Agriculture then eventually retired from the Department of Education. Upon retirement, she began her favourite role - being a Grandmother. Her Grandchildren meant the world to her. She spent every moment she could with them from outings to the park, bowling, going to movies to teaching them to read and cook. Gramma was a huge part of their lives and they will have many wonderful memories of her forever. She also cherished her many pets over the years and even spent time making homemade treats for all the family's animals. In her free time, Shirley loved to read, work in the garden and take her dog for long walks. Shirley was diagnosed with lung cancer over nine years ago. She lived life to the fullest each and every day, even when her illness returned again and again. She was incredibly strong and is an inspiration to anyone who knew her. We would like to thank all of Shirley's care givers over the years; from Dr. Harris and favourite nurse Val to Dr. Fournier and the amazing staff of CCDU at Health Sciences Centre. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Little Britain United Church, 5879 Main Street, Lockport, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
