Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERA MAY HAY (nee CARROTHERS) It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Vera May Hay (nee Carrothers), on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Deer Lodge Centre, at the age of 95 years. Remaining to mourn Vera's passing are her daughter Carol (Dan) Iwankow; son-in-law Ross (Annette); grandchildren, Cassandra (Guy), Annastasia (Simon), Tracy, Andy and David; as well as great-grandchildren, Jean-Luc, Natasha, Anthony and Elenna. She was predeceased by her husband Bruce Hay; son and daughter, Jim and Pat; parents, Tom and Etta Carrothers and her 10 siblings. Vera was born on March 3, 1920, on the family farm in Austin, Manitoba and was the middle child of 11. She served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in the Second World War. She enjoyed travelling, lapidary work, gardening and began to write about her many adventures later in her life. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Deer Lodge Centre T5 for their kindness and support. In compliance with Vera's wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held. She will be interred in the family plot in Austin, Manitoba this summer 2016.
