I met Geoff when I signed up to roadie for Honeythroat around 1976/77, he being the singer of the startup rock n roll quintet. We became very close pals and shared an apartment together in Winnipeg . When the band split, I moved to Toronto and Geoff back to Vancouver. Two years later we found ourselves back in Winnipeg , reconnected and decided to head west together in a '69 Ford Econoline van (the 69er as we called it) He was the best man at my wedding in 1983 and prior to that he and I, along with Bryan Morrissette (RIP) lived in a bachelor pad on Bute Street. Fantastic memories with Geoff and Bryan that I will never forget. Unfortunately, when I moved to Victoria in '89, Geoff, Bryan and I started to lose touch with each other. It is sad that my reconnection with Geoff is through finding out of his passing. I will continue to remember all of the fantastic moments I shared with him. In peace... - Posted by: Al Brown (Friend) on: Nov 10, 2016

I was saddened to hear that Geoff had passed away. I had not spoken to Geoff in over forty years. However, from 1966 to 1968 Geoff and I were in a band called "Finder's Keepers". Geoff was the lead singer and I was the keyboard player. He was an excellent rock and roll singer with a fabulous stage presence. In addition Geoff was easy going with a terrific sense of humour. As a result we all had alot of fun playing music together. I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to Geoff's family and friends. He was a great guy and it was a privilege to have known him and to have played in a band with him. - Posted by: Len Rosolowich (Friend) on: Mar 16, 2016

I planted trees with Geoff. Because of his positive nature, Geoff was my rock during the hardest times. He never complained and was always upbeat (pun intended). Geoff made me some incredible mixed tapes (for those of us who remember cassettes) that I enjoyed for many hours. Geoff made all of our lives better. R.I.P. Mr. Marrin! - Posted by: angel (pal) on: Mar 12, 2016

I met Geoff in 1969 when I was a roadie for the band Sugar & Spice. I will always remember sitting in his Mom's basement and listening to his fabulous collection of albums. The room would get smokey and the music was amazing. We shared hotel rooms and road stories and I got to know a good friend. We tree planted together with Phil, Gerry and Chuck from Sugar & Spice and bonded even further. The last time I saw Geoff was at a lunch with our friend Tinker at Fresgo's. I moved back to Winnipeg and we lost touch. I searched online and asked friends but I could not find him. One last comment. On Friday, February 12th my wife and I were looking at our Vancouver wedding pictures from 1980. There was Geoff and we both wondered where he was and how he was doing. In fact he died that very day. I will miss you old friend and hope to see you again on the other side. - Posted by: Garry Bunkowsky (Friend) on: Feb 18, 2016

I met "Jeffers" in Vancouver in 1975, and we clicked. We had an amazing time together, and had a lot in common, the music, pretty chilled, Zen. He'd started tree planting after leaving Winnipeg and being in a long string of bands. I listened to many hours of stories of the ups and downs and disappointments that the the bands didn't make it to the top 'when they came so close'. Personality clashes, bad management, legal issues caused huge stumbling block, but he loved making it to the Sonny & Cher show. Geoff loved tree planting, he really did. It was so demanding and downright brutal, but he loved being out in the bush, loved the people and his friends in that industry. I lost touch with Geoff when I moved back to MB, I searched for him online, phone numbers to no avail. I felt bad that myself and my brother Michael only reconnected with Geoff in his last week or so of life. Geoff you rocked, your Vancouver friends who stepped up to the plate for you rock to. Thinking of you tripping the light fantastic with Bryan and Garry, and your dear Maureen. Love yah man, you were the cat's pajamas ! You'll be missed, but you've left a trail of glory behind and you'll always be loved and remembered by many. - Posted by: Susan Sul;ivan (nee Guindon) (Old Friend) on: Feb 17, 2016
