GLADYS ELENORA JANSSON (nee CARLSON) April 17, 1921 - February 24, 2016 Peacefully at Pinawa Hospital, Gladys Jansson left to be with her Lord and Saviour and her family that has gone on before, father Jonas; mother Kristina; brothers, Carl, George, and Edwin; sisters, Annie (Anderson) and Eva (Healy). Gladys is survived by her devoted husband of 73 years, Walter; sons, Stuart (Cherry) and Wesley (Brenda); grandchildren, Richard (Jodi), Ronald (Ruth), Steffan, Adam, Jacob and Lucas; and great-grandchildren, Ahna, Grahame, Davin and Erik. The youngest of six children, Gladys' mother passed away when Gladys was only two years old. By the time she turned ten, The Great Depression had begun and all her brothers and sisters had left the family home near White Mud Falls to marry or work and she became the woman of the house. When she came of age to work she found employment in Winnipeg keeping house for, among others, soon-to-be Premier Stuart Garson and his family. On June 6, 1942 she married Walter Jansson and kept the family farm and home until his return from Europe in early 1946. In 1956 the family moved to Great Falls which was home for the next 55 years. A time which mom was very active in the Community Club, Women's Institute as well as the curling and bowling leagues. Along with dad, she was also active in the Pine Falls United Church, Lac du Bonnet Legion and the Lac du Bonnet Pioneer club. After a second hip replacement in late 2009 the rigors of home became too much so mom and dad took up residence in Pinawa's Ironwood Suites in June of 2010 and began making new friends. The family would like to thank the staff at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home for their care during mom's stay there and Dr. Bruneau and staff at the Pinawa Hospital. We would especially like to thank all the friends and relatives of a lifetime for being just that, friends for life. Each of you were special to "Auntie Gladys" in your own way. Cremation has taken place. There will be no formal interment at this time. If friends so desire a donation may be made to the nearest branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.
