DOUGLAS GRAHAM KETCHEN It is with sadness in our hearts that we announce the peaceful and unexpected passing of Douglas Graham Ketchen on February 17, 2016, in Arizona. Left to cherish Graham's memory are wife Susan; daughters, Jennifer (Jeff Kreitz), Amy (Gabriel Daniels); grandchildren, Mackenzie and Alex Kreitz, and Malia and Mara Daniels; brother Ian Ketchen; sisters, Heather Boyd and Sheila Hurlbert; cousins, nieces and nephews. Graham was predeceased by his father Douglas, mother Dorothy and stepfather Angus. Graham was born February 6, 1946 in Edinburgh, Scotland. He came to Canada on the Queen Mary at six months of age. Graham lived on the family farm near Wadena, SK until age six; from there he lived in Creighton, SK and Thompson, MB, always having adventures with siblings, cousins and friends along the way. Many stories can be told of Graham's high school years in Thompson and all the fun he had with his House of Bacchus buddies. Graham met Susan in 1967 and they were married on July 4, 1970. Graham worked at Motor Coach Industries as a purchasing agent from 1973 to 2004, but felt his greatest achievement was his daughters, Jennifer and Amy. Never one to take credit for his talents, Graham often wondered how his girls turned out so well. He truly was the best dad a girl could have. So patient, supportive, told the best bedtime stories and always available to pick up no matter the time. Grandchildren, Mackenzie, Alex, Malia and Mara added a special joy to Graham's life. He would often stop in for a quick hug and a giggle from the grandkids just to brighten his day. Generous with his time, Graham was Mr. Fix-it for many. He always had a to-do list on the go. He loved to cross things off his lists. Graham was happy to tinker in the house and in the garage. He was an avid automobile enthusiast. Graham knew the year, make and model of any car driving down the road. He was a member of the Winnipeg Sports Car club and enjoyed rallying in the 1970s. Graham loved the sun. He and Susan travelled to many sunny destinations. They became snowbirds in 2010, spending winters at their home in Harlingen, Texas. Celebration of Life will be held at Harrow United Church, 955 Mulvey Ave. on Saturday, March 5 at 11:00 a.m., Teresa Moysey officiating. Please wear blue, Graham's favourite colour. In lieu of flowers, honour Graham by donating blood; signing your organ donor card; sharing your time and talents; or adopting a pet.
