BRENDA PASTA (nee HALLETT) June 21, 1950 - February 29, 2016 It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandma on Monday, February 29, 2016, at Victoria Hospital, at the age of 65 years. Brenda will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Sam; along with her children, Sammy (Susie) and Laurie (Bob). Grandma will also be sadly missed by all of her grandchildren who adored her, Sarena, Sal, Tiano, Katie, Maddie and Lillie. She leaves to mourn her brother Bill; as well as nieces and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Laura Hallett, who greeted her at Heaven's door. Brenda was a nurse (LPN) who started her career at Health Sciences Centre and recently retired in June 2015 from Holy Family Nursing Home. Although she enjoyed caring for her Babbas (who passed along the recipe for her awesome perogies), Brenda was looking forward to spending her summer months at her camper in Lake Winnipeg. She was also very proud of her Metis heritage. During her spare time, Brenda enjoyed playing bingo with friends and knitting for her grandchildren. She loved to bake all sorts of yummy treats with her grandchildren; we will miss her annual Christmas dainty trays and homemade pies. Family and friends will miss Brenda's laughter, her smiles and gifts of love. In compliance with Brenda's wishes, no Funeral Service will be held, instead an informal celebration of Brenda's life will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the St. James Legion, 1755 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. Special thanks to the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and Seven Oaks, St. Boniface and Victoria Hospitals, for their valiant efforts to bring her back to us. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6. Well guess what, it's not that funny when I have to read yours. You will be missed forever, Sam."

  • We had a moment of prayer at 1 pm today in memory of our dear Brenda. We cherished their visits to Victoria and loved the corned beef on rye that they served to us when we visited them in Winnipeg. Prayers and love to you all - Posted by: Sal & Carol Pasta (Cousins) on: Mar 05, 2016

  • How does a person say goodbye to their best friend? When trying to answer this question great memories come to mind. Our travels over the years, playing bingo, sharing the pride of our Grandchildren and just sitting at a campfire watching the sun set and the waves from the lake rolling to the shore. We will miss having your delicious home made strawberry jam on toast at breakfast. Most of all you were always there in time of need and as you would always say "what are best friends for?". I will truly miss you and you will always be close to my heart. Our deepest sympathy to Sam and Brenda's wonderful Family. Love Liz & John Roth - Posted by: Liz & John Roth (Friend) on: Mar 03, 2016

  • Brenda, my heart is so broken...I hold back my tears as best I can to be strong for the family. I miss you terribly and really truly know the value of your friendship more now than I ever realized before, I'm just so sad that we didn't have more time together. We look forward to the day we meet up with you again to play cards and have some laughs! Love you more than words can say. I promise to keep Sammy in line and take care if the kids. • Brenda and I spent many a Saturday at her house debating the finer points of who had the best music. I was a firm Beatles fan whilst Brenda always tried to convert me to the band she thought was the second coming namely the Beach Boys. Hard for two prairie girls to relate to sun and surf, but Brenda adored the Beach Boys. - Posted by: Judy Riley (Friend ffrom high school) on: Mar 03, 2016
