MARIAN ANNE DARLENE JONES 1948 - 2016 With her husband, family and friends by her side, our dear wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully in the early morning of February 27, 2016, at the young age of 67, two weeks shy of her 68th birthday. Marian started work at a young age with MTS for the largest part of her work history, eventually moving on to E.D.S and finally with Great West Life to where she finally retired. Ken and Marian met in spring 1967, dating for a couple of years and finally getting married on November 15, 1969. Marian is survived by her loving husband Ken and two children, Chris (Michelle), Krista (Colin) and her six beautiful grandchildren, Breanna, Shaelynn, Ryder, as well as Sarah, Cailyn and C.J. Ken and Marian lived for 30 plus years in West St. Paul, where Mom perfected her baking skills of her delicious cookies and desserts, as well as her green thumb in her flower beds and gardens. For most of the close friends and family, they remember how Marian and Ken loved to entertain at Christmas. Christmas dinner was always there with all the fixings of a delicious Christmas dinner. In their later years together, Ken and Marian enjoyed vacationing to Yuma, Arizona in the winter with friends from L.D.B. Marian worked many years to help beautify their cottage area as President of the Auglen Park Cottage Association, struggling and fighting for every grant or dollar she could find to fulfill her dream, as well as the association in completing the Community building and play structures. We all know whatever Marian started, Marian completed! The family would like to send out their deepest gratitude and thanks to Tim and Lucy Jones and the many people at the palliative care that helped caring for our mother. Flowers are gratefully declined and donations to The Auglen Park Cottage Association, P.O. Box 17003, Lac du Bonnet, MB R0E 1A0 would be appreciated. Funeral services to be held at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main St., Tuesday, March 8 at 2:00 p.m. Viewing to commence at 1:00 p.m.

  • I worked with Marian at both MTS and Great-West Life. I always loved hearing her stories about grandchildren, and the cottage. I still remember how wonderful her homemade deer meat sausage tasted. Marian was always so much fun to be around, and was a great friend, and mentor at the office. She was the hardest working person (both personally and professionally) I've ever known! At the office, in addition to being a wonderful Project Manager, she used to bake our project team members oatmeal cookies (again, best I've ever had!) as a treat (she always did everything she could to keep us motivated!). It was an honour and privilege to have known her; she will be missed. - Posted by: Jackie Scott (Friend and former colleague from MTS and Great-West Life) on: Mar 07, 2016

  • So sad to hear that Marian passed away. We enjoyed having her as a neighbor in Lac Du Bonnet. We shared many good ideas and laughs. We will miss her. I am not able to come to the funeral as I had extensive foot surgery and not able to walk with my cast for awhile. Our deepest sympathies to Ken and family. • My deepest sympathy to Ken and the whole family for the loss of such a caring person, who always did a lot for others and never asked for nothing in return. She will be remembered as my Maid of Honor, and always a great hostess at any due she was part of. My prayers to the whole family. She will always be in my thoughts, and prayers. - Posted by: Patsy Jones (ex sister in law) on: Mar 06, 2016

  • We worked with Marian for many years at MTS. She was the most dedicated and hard working person, yet she always found time to help others. She will be missed but many fond memories will live on with the many people who knew her. Rest in Peace Marian. - Posted by: Murray & Shannon Young (Friends, Co-workers) on: Mar 05, 2016

  • I worked with Marian at the start of my career at MTS and remember with a smile how much I learned much from her about breaking down communication barriers. She made words like "widget", "doohickey" and "jiggery-pokery" a part of my systems analysis vocabulary. :-) She was truly a "CLASS-y" lady. My heartfelt condolences to Ken and family. Rest in peace Marian, you will be missed. - Posted by: Cathy Garski (Friend and former MTS co-worker) on: Mar 05, 2016

  • We have many fond memories of the many horseshoe tournaments at your family cottage. You will be greatly missed but always remembered for all your time and energy spent making out cottage area family friendly. - Posted by: Cheryl and Dan MacKay (Cottage Neighbors) on: Mar 05, 2016
