MICHAL MADEJCZYK
Date of Passing: Mar 05, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAL MADEJCZYK With deep sadness we announce the passing of our father, Dido, and pra-Dido, aged 87, on the evening of March 5, 2016. Michal is survived by daughters, Danuta (Wieslaw Buzanowski), Bozena (Krzysztof "Chris" Basarab); granddaughters, Kathrine "Katrusia" Basarab (Andrew Senchuk), Olia (Myron Jurychuk), Dorota Buzanowska (Joe Funari), Tania (Michael Taranov); great-grandchildren, Adam Senchuk, Talia Taranov, Natalia Funari; sister Anna Grember and family of Lille, France; brother-in-law Jozef Smolak and family of Koszalin, Poland, cousin and good friend Kateryna Hruden, and numerous nieces and nephews. Michal was predeceased by his beloved wife Katarzyna, his parents, a number of his siblings, and his granddaughter Natalia Buzanowska. Michal was born on November 16, 1928, in Wola Matiaszowa, Lemkivshchyna. As a young man, Michal experienced considerable tragedy including the death of several young siblings, his father, the ravages of the Second World War, and forcible resettlement under Akcja Wisla. In 1958, he married Katarzyna Smolak. A year later, they welcomed daughter Danuta. Two years later, their family grew with the arrival of Bozena. Michal farmed and worked laying pipes and digging drainage ditches in Poland to provide for his family. In 1991, Michal immigrated to Canada to join his daughter Bozena and her growing family. Prior to retirement, Michal worked for 10 years as a groundskeeper at Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. Michal was an exceptionally hard worker, unfailingly kind, and generous to a fault. He was a self-taught carpenter who delighted in making chairs, plant stands, and other items for family and friends. He loved to sing and he loved a good party. He was a deeply religious man and a patriotic Ukrainian. His pride and joy, however, were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be sorely missed. Thank-you to Holy Family Home and the Sister Servants of Mary Immaculate, and to all the staff that helped Michal whenever he needed assistance, especially Doris, Sabina and Shirley. Thank-you to doctors, Terry and Andrea Babick for their attentive and compassionate care. Parastas on March 9 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral liturgy on March 10 at 10:00 a.m. All services at the Ukrainian Metropolitan Cathedral of Sts. Vladimir & Olga, 115 McGregor St., Winnipeg, with interment at All Saints Cemetery. Rosary will be prayed one half hour before both services. In lieu of flowers, kindly donate in Michal's memory to the Lubov SSMI Foundation.

Deepest sympathies to the family on the passing of your father, gido and great-gido. My father was Nick Kohuch and he sat at the dinner table with Michal. I saw Michal every time I came to see my dad. He was a kind man and would always say hello. My dad enjoyed visiting with him. He will be missed. So sorry to hear of Michal's passing. He was a lovely man and good companion of my Dad, Rev. Deacon Kohuch, while at Holy Family. I truly believe they are once again enjoying each others company. - Posted by: Randy Kohuch (Friend) on: Mar 09, 2016
