IRENE RITA SOKOL (nee OLIEN) Peacefully, on March 2, 2016, Irene passed away with family at her side. Irene will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother - always there for her family with unconditional love. Forever in our hearts, Irene is survived by her husband of 60 years and best friend, Ted Sokol, daughters Teresa Steinhauer (Timothy), Cynthia Angus (David), and Kristina Wakeford (Jerry), grandchildren Andrew, Jaclyn, Scott, Sean, Amanda, and Dana. Irene is now at peace with her parents, brothers and sisters. While home and family were Irene's life focus, friends from her career in retail, Catholic Women's League, and ladies bowling group added love and laughter to her full and happy life. Respecting Irene's wishes, cremation has taken place. As Irene wished, there will be no funeral service. Family will gather privately to celebrate her life. A sincere thank you to the staff at River East Personal Care Home who genuinely cared for Irene the last months of her life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Sorry to hear of your mom's / wife's passing. My early memories with Irene began on the way to work on the Salter Bus. I remember her sparkling eyes and quick wit. She had great pride in her family. Thinking of you at this time. - Posted by: Joyce Todd (Long-time friend) on: Mar 12, 2016

Our love & prayers go out to the Family on the passing of our dear friend Irene. We lost touch over the years with our moving to LDB but she & Ted were always in our hearts and prayers. We are so grateful we were able to visit and celebrate her birthday the week before she passed. She loved Vic's teasing ways and he brought a smile to her lips once again. WE love you Irene and will miss you. Till we meet again watch the roads! - Posted by: Vic & Yolanda Forsyth (Long time friends ) on: Mar 10, 2016
