Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD SWEETLAND M.I.D.C.D. On March 6, 2016 Harold Sweetland of Edmonton passed away peacefully at the age of 97. He will be dearly missed by his loving daughter Judy Crosby (Wayne Stark), son Harold Lindsay (Wendy) Sweetland; grandchildren Michael (Shelley) Crosby, Jennifer (John) Ross, Evan Sweetland, Celia Sweetland, Jesse Suitor, Daniel (Carmen) Suitor; and great-grandchildren Ashton, Connor, Cassady, Keenan and Addison, along with many friends and relatives in Winnipeg and England. Harold was predeceased by his loving wife Muriel, his daughter Sheila Suitor, and his brother Norman Sweetland. He enlisted in Winnipeg September 1939 with the Fort Garry Horse. He saw action with 12th Manitoba Dragoons armoured cars in Normandy, Germany, the liberation of Holland, and was mentioned in dispatches for gallant and distinguished service. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Harold retired in 1984 after 36 years with Canadian National Railways. At the request of the deceased, there will not be a funeral service.
