DAVID L. PARR June 3, 1942 March 9, 2016 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of David Parr on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Victoria Hospital, at the age of 73 years. Dave will be missed by his wife of 49 years, Gayle; daughters, Kim and Janet; son-in-law Kevin Harbottle and granddaughters, Emma and Zoe. Dave and Gayle met while both working at Great West Life. Looking for a new career, he moved to Winnipeg Transit in 1974 where he worked as a Bus Operator, Instructor and Inspector for over 32 years. One of Dave's greatest joys was encouraging and seeing his daughters grow into independent, self-assured women. This happiness continued with the knowledge that his granddaughters are following the same path. In compliance with Dave's wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held, but please take a moment to remember him. Thank you to all the staff at the Victoria Hospital for their kindness and compassion during Dave's recent visits. Thank you also to the all the medical personnel who have helped him through his many health challenges over the last few years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6, the Victoria Hospital, 2340 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 2E8 or to a charity of your choice. • One of the joys of life was watching David, Gayle and Kim at the MTS Centre enjoying the Moose and the Jets. David was obviously very proud of his family. A kinder soul there never was. He will be missed in Section 107. - Posted by: Bernie Gowryluk (Friend) on: Mar 12, 2016

  • Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Gayle, Janet, Kevin, Emma, Zoe and Kim with the recent passing of Dave. He will be missed by all. Bob and Wendy - Posted by: Bob and Wendy Harbottle (Daughter in llamas father (Janet Harbottle)) on: Mar 12, 2016

  • Dear Gayle, Kim, Janet and your families, I extend to you my deepest sympathies and blessings in this tragic time. It was a sad day last thurs when I received an email from Susan Lamb informing me that David had passed away in Hospital. Even though we have not been too close over the years, I always felt that kindredship with David and Family. Still cherish the time Marion and I spent with you several years ago on our passing through Winnipeg. I think at the time we also met with Glenys and one of your daughters. Gayle, you and your family will dearly miss David, but you will always have those many Happy Memories to call upon when needed. My prayers are with You. God Bless You All. • I worked with Dave in the health claims department back in the 60's. Always lots of fun. Shared many parties together. A fellow Fort Garry resident as well although I don't recall him at school but I do remember his brother, Phil. - Posted by: Tom Rooke (fellow worker at GWL) on: Mar 12, 2016

  • I was very sad to read of Dave's passing. Parr. Dave was a really great Supervisor who gave 100% every day, even on those days when the pain of his arthritis should have kept him at home. Dave's calm and composed persona was always welcomed in the daily chaos of Transit. I valued him as one of my team and as a friend. Sleep in peace buddy, you will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Gayle and the family. - Posted by: Dan Kirk (Fellow worker at Winnipeg Transit) on: Mar 12, 2016
