Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH (BETTY) WALKER With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Betty Walker, at the age of 86 years, at the Lions Prairie Manor on Sunday, March 13, 2016, with family by her side. Predeceased by her parents Herbert and Isabella Sproule, her son Allen and daughter Sally, Betty is survived by her loving husband Dick, of 65 years, daughters Barbara Walker of Macdonald, MB and Leah Kidston (Tim Rumancik), granddaughter Alana (Doug) McAuley with great-grandchildren Kylie and Walker, grandson Jason (Bridgette) Walker with great-grandsons Carson, Cohen and Carter, granddaughter Codie Kidston, daughter-in-law Dianne Walker, all of Portage la Prairie, MB, and sister-in-law Margaret Bell of Belleville, ON, as well as several nephews, nieces, and cousins. Betty was a devoted daughter, wife and mother. She was accomplished in so many fields - cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting and crafting, as well as a wonderful pianist, organist, and singer. She loved nothing better than a sing-a-long around the campfire with the camping "gang" or with the various entertainers at the Manor over the last several years. Betty was very community-minded, always helping to organize events at the local hall in Macdonald, as well as a lifetime member of the United Church. She was an avid sports fan over the years and enjoyed curling, golfing and bowling, and especially liked watching hockey and her beloved Blue Jays on T.V. Due to health and mobility issues, she moved to the Lions Manor in 2005, where she has resided ever since. Betty's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Skyview staff for their wonderful care and compassion over the years. At Betty's request, there will be no formal funeral service. Cremation has taken place, and a private interment will be held in the family plot at Longburn Cemetery at a later date. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Betty's memory to P.A.W.S., 121 12 St. NW, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 2S9, or to a charity of one's choice. A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. 204-857-4021 www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
