ERIC BANGOR MOYSEY
Born: Jul 12, 1925
Date of Passing: Mar 12, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERIC BANGOR MOYSEY July 12, 1925 - March 12, 2016 Born in Eston, Saskatchewan to Mabel Carter and Jack Moysey in 1925, the youngest of their five children. He was predeceased by his infant brother Teddy, brother Noel during service with the R.C.A.F. in the Second World War, by his brother Kirb and sister Sybil in more recent years, and by his wife, Mary Jean in 2009. Eric is survived by children Paul, Teresa (Bruce Faurschou), and Jennifer (Ted Wilton), by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Eric was raised on the family farm and received his early education in one-room schools. University studies took him to Saskatoon, graduating from engineering at the University of Saskatchewan in 1948. He then pursued graduate studies at Iowa State in Ames, where he met Mary Jean Hancock, discovering a mutual love for music and for one another. They danced and sang their way into marriage, and in 1950 settled in Saskatoon, with Eric accepting a teaching position in the College of Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan. He will be remembered professionally not only for his teaching but for his research, particularly in the areas of farm building standards, porous windbreaks and bulk storage of oilseed crops. His expertise presented opportunities for travel to many parts of the world which combined business with pleasure. Eric was an accomplished curler, winning the Saskatchewan Masters title in 1986. Once he retired, curling took a back seat to golf; Eric was proud of his three holes in one (especially since he was never close to being a scratch golfer and loved to rub it in to his friends). Retirement winters were largely spent in Hemet, California with many good times on the golf course and socializing with friends. Whether in professional associations, on condo boards or church committees, Eric was often recruited to provide leadership and expertise. In 2005, Eric and Mary Jean moved to Winnipeg to be closer to family. During their years in Winnipeg, they made many new friends and received care and support from family and friends. We, his children and grandchildren, acquired from him a strong sense of family, a love of learning and of music. When nearly all else was lost to dementia, Eric would still hum along on the bass line of most any song being played or sung with him. We want to extend our thanks to the staff of Southeast Personal Care Home and to the staff of Comforts of Home Care, especially Dianne, for their faithful companionship and caregiving. We are grateful to have had him in our lives, and we release him with tenderness and love. Memorial service will be held at Harrow United Church, 955 Mulvey Avenue, Winnipeg on Saturday, March 19 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the College of Engineering, University of Saskatchewan, to Southeast Personal Care Home, 1265 Lee Blvd., Winnipeg, or to Harrow United Church would be appreciated. I met Mr Moysey when my Father was a resident for a very brief time at South-east Personal Care Home. I then was thankful to know his daughter Teresa as well. He was kind and gentle man and clearly loved his family. Please accept my families condolences. - Posted by: Kelly Kluger (Acquaintance) on: Mar 18, 2016
