RUBY KLUSA (THOMPSON) Mrs. Ruby Klusa, age 83 years passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Hospital on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 with her husband Mel at her side. Born on August 1, 1932 at the Port Arthur General Hospital, Ruby was married to Nick Klusa in 1956, they resided in Thunder Bay until his passing in 1998. Ruby then returned to Lac du Bonnet where she lived with Ted Jackson for 12 years before returning to Thunder Bay. Mel and Ruby met in 2003 and have been together since. Ruby worked at many jobs including waitressing and cooking in lumber camps until she went to the Port Arthur General where she spent 20 years in the dietary department, was a union rep and retired in 1990. Ruby was a longtime member of the Holy Protection Church and enjoyed making dozens of perogies there. Most recently she transferred to Holy Cross Church and was with the St. Anne Society. Survived by husband Mel and family, godson Myron Uchacz, Amelia Uchacz and family, close friend Sally Arthurs and many church friends, especially her coffee group. Funeral Liturgy for the late Mrs. Ruby Klusa will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Holy Cross celebrated by Father Yuriy Tykhyy. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be held on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley Street, Thunder Bay, Ontario with Panachyda offered at 7:00 p.m. Donations to the Northern Cardiac Fund or the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
